Hello Armorers. I thought I'd share my latests project. One of my regulars sent me this bad boy to paint and finish. It's the 1/35th Takom M3 kit. Truthfuly I don't know much about these. He told me I could choose the markings and I could "have fun with it", so I went with Monty's ride in 1942-43.
I primed it with XF-69 NATO black then fired down XF-59 Desert Yellow. Next I used XF-51 Khaki Drab mixed with some XF-26 Deep Green. I then added a postshade of diluted black and red brown. I'm pretty happy so far.
Next I'll move on to the tracks...

Looks good. Did you use a mask to get the green on khaki, or is that free hand? If a mask - what type of mask?
Yeah, looks fantastic! I've been looking forward to you bringing your aircraft skills down to apply to 'ground targets'...

I have the Tamiya Easy Eight in the stash. I want to practice track weathering before I give it a go.
I should be wrapping this turkey up soon. After the decals dried (which were horrible) and an X-22/MLT gloss coat, I gave it an AK Dark Brown enamel wash. Some darker highlights were done with Tamya black panel line wash, mostly near the engine area. I did some streaking with AK for DAK vehicles too.
I did an AK track wash which was then drybrushed with Model Master Chrome Silver. I bought AK desert dust effects which I'm going to try on the tracks and lower surfaces. I hope I don't ruin it.
EXTREMELY NICE!

I finished this a few weeks ago and just got around to updating this. It was alot of fun and I continue to learn alot about armor modeling. I also continue to experiment with AK washes. I used several different ones on this turkey to include a wash to simulate dust on the tracks. I also tried the splatter technique by flicking a brush on a toothpick with said wash. I need more practice on that. FYI........Takom decals are utter crap. I'm glad I only needed a few.
