My Tamiya M-40 SP Howitzer
Posted by Tojo72 on Sunday, August 22, 2021 2:47 PM

I have been wanting to get this one posted. It was a nicely detailed kit but very buildable.I built it OOB except for the Tamiya metal barrel and shells. My last couple of armor builds I muddied up pretty good with washes and pigments and planned to do the same on this one but I ended up keeping it clean instead, just doing a little pre-shading.It was enjoyable and I think it looks okay clean.I used mostly Mission Model Paints.

As always,thanks for looking

Wow, that looks super nice. I understand the dilema of knowing it should be dirty but loving how it looks clean and fresh. I always kinda dislike weathering them up after all the careful work getting them painted nice. Great job, it looks awesome.

That looks great.  I love the job you did on this.  Even though the picture isn’t there, I’m pretty sure this is the model that started your famous “latest acquisitions “ thread.

Yes you are correct,I got it at the AMPS national in Conn.in 2017,can't believe it's been stashed that long. The other one was the Trumpy Graf Zeppelin which is still stashed, which actually was my last Squadron purchase.

Thank you for remembering

Great job on her Tojo! Love the figures too! Heart

I have gotten to putting mud and dirt on models, still don't like rust and wear that much.

That's nicely done.

My father served on these 1950-1954 in the Michigan National Guard.

I would say it was not a howitzer but a very capable rifled field gun.

My stash has one, the AFV Club issue.I wish I had the Tamiya kit, but dad is gone and who knows when I'll get to it.

Nicely done.

Very nicely done, she came out really well. I've got the AFV Club kit on my wish list as it has marking for a British Army vehicle.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Looks darn good

You do realize you now have an excuse to go build a 5 ton (or a 7.5t prime mover) truck and/or a two-axle ammo trailer, correct?  have to feed the beast, after all.

Or a jeep with commo reels.  If a person really wanted to be adventurous, a Dodge PowerWagon to carry a field phone switchboard.

Modeling as an excuse to model more Smile

Great work indeed!

Even better are the shots where it looks like a quiet suburban afternoon is about to become very...exciting.

So this is one of the kits that started the now infamous thread! That thing is a beast and looks like it would pack a punch in that valley below your window!  It really does look good.

That 2nd pic reminds of something from The Santa Clause, it's not exact but still....

"Well, isn't that a pretty picture, Santa rolling down the block in a PANZER! Well kids, I... I certainly hope you've been good this year, cause it looks like Santa just took out the Pearson home. Innncommmming!"

Started laughin as soon as I saw the pic because that quote popped right in my head, lol.

BTW, Nice lookin build.
