Wow, almost a grandslam there m1. Kongratz! You deserve all those medals and even more. Maybe we should get a bigger room. This is already crowded with thropies.

I also got a taste of what judges are looking for, I helped with my new club (PAPMS) to select our club's best of show award, and I saw some of the judges showing some errors to look for when they were narrowing some planes down for a "best of" award. I came away with a big boost and a huge urge to get some models done!! I just recently recieved some new stuff too, a 1/72 leopold, and my PE (after 8 months) for my SAS landrover.

Thanks again everyone. I just want to clarify the way the 'awards' system works for this contest. Each model is judged on it's own. 5 judges each independently give it a score from 0 through 4, and then all of the scores are tallied up (the highest score and the lowest are removed to shield against any sort of 'bias'). Total possible score is a 12 (after 2 of the 5 are removed). Awards are Bronze for 5-8, Silver for 9-10, and Gold for 11-12.

So, we end up giving out lots of Bronze, several Silver, and a few Gold. It's actually a nice way to recognize good builders, while still maintaining some 'contest' credibility.

So in the case of Chris and I, we didn't really 'sweep' the contest, since several other well-deserving models and builders were given similar awards.

One thing is very clear though, Chris definitely did get the only Gold award in his category. Golds are tough to come by in this contest, and his was well deserved. I'll post a few pics of the 'winning kits' later tonight...

Congrats to you Chris. It's too bad we can't take a count of all our members awards.

Thanks guys. Sorry to hi-jack your thread, Chris!! The more important thing to me was being able to spend a day and a half with a bunch of other guys that enjoy the hobby as much as me. I honestly was surprised at how well my kits did. The caliber just keeps going up every year, and Chris is definitely right.... A Gold is very tough to come by.

Congrat's again Chris!

the way the awards work is, they judge every model and rate it (5 judges rate it 1-4) when their done, they tally their results and based on how many points the model recieved it is awarded either nothing, bronze, silver, or gold. I had the only gold in general, and I didn't see too many in advanced, maybe 5 or 6, not sure maybe murray knows. so a gold is hard to come by, thats for sure!!!

Hey!

You beat me to it! I was hoping to post a congrat's message here, but looks like the word is already out. I was fortunate enough to have a good look at Chris's M10 and am glad to see he got a Gold. There are always a 'few' models at a show or contest that people talk about.... "did you see that so-and-so over there?". There were some really impressive armour pieces at the contest and Chris's was one of the 'talked-about' displays. Well deserved recognition for something that he clearly put some effort and time into.

Chris, I'm glad you had "fun" at your first contest. Your enthusiasm for the hobby and history is impressive. Stay with that perspective and you'll have many more years of enjoyment of the hobby (and the company!). Hopefully you had a good chance to chat with some other builders and glean a few tips and tricks here and there.

Oh, and if anyone's interested, I got a silver for my M4 from the sherman group build, a bronze for my little 1:43 Ford Focus, and a bronze for my 1:72 CF-5 Agressor! I also have a bunch of pictures that I'll try to get up on the web as soon as possible!

Good job Chris,
Glad to hear your Audie Murphy won a Gold it did better than mine. Back in April I entered my Audie Murphy M10 and walked away with a silver. I will get some pictures post of it, I promise, but since I don't own digital I have to rely on the kindness of others to take my pictures.
