I do so like the old Tamiya "88" despite all of it's problems real or otherwiseBig Smile [:D] You did a great job with the figures too, for an older kit they really did pretty good. I especially like the Zundapp (I'm a sucker for old iron). My last 88 is on a Vomag light tank transport truck, a vacuform conversion from Hobby Schmidt Modelbau.

Excellent work on your part, look forward to more..

Excellent work, Dwight! The figures are very well well done. Well, the whole thing is very well done! The base and ruins are magnificent.
And of course, the gun's great, too!

M1: I am glad you like it. Thanks.

Thundergod: You are way too kind but thanks anyway.Smile [:)]

Phroosh: Believe me I have been looking forward to seeing this finished for the last two months!Big Smile [:D] Thanks. I am glad that I finally got the time and urge to finish it.

Build: Thanks. The first time I took pictures outside at the terrace and I got good light. Expect more pictures from the terrace from now on.Wink [;)]

Wildwilliam: Ssssshhhhhh. Don't mention about the ship for the Mrs. (It's still not done yet.) Although she has asked me already why I was able to finish this one first when I am just sneaking it between the work on the ship.Big Smile [:D] Well...I just shook my head and said..."the truth is out there..." He-he-he.

jimq: Thanks, too. Well, my cheap camera still gets the job done.

Kennethc/Zokissima: Thanks. The foamboard I was referring to is basically foam compressed with two sheets of thin but stiff paper on both sides. Outside it looks like an ordinary board like illustration board but if you look at the sides you can see the foam. It is light and soft to cut unlike illustration board. It comes in different thickness like 3mm, 6mm etc. It is commonly used for architectural models. It comes in black or white (as far as I know)

Abastyr: Thanks for the compliments.

Erush: Thanks, bro. How's the Long Tom coming?Big Smile [:D]

DJ: No way. The dog knocked the flower pot down. From that point on the pot is of no use so I powdered it. Strange though, we don't have a dog. Big Smile [:D] Thanks.

Claymore: Thanks. You are right. The gun is quite loose on the vertical plane. It keeps drooping down. Anyway I don't want to glue it place so I just let it be as of the time being.

Larry: Big Smile [:D] Sorry about all the distractions. He-he-he. I was really expecting somebody to say "get that gun off the base". LOL. Well, anyway thanks for the motivation. If you haven't started the Towed Gun GB, I wouldn't have the interest of doing it. Thanks again for the support.

LQ2: You said. Approve [^]Actually I am just glad I was able to get it off the workbench after starting it 2 months ago. (A record of sorts for me...please insert claps here).Big Smile [:D]. Remember last week when we were talking and I was saying that I need to get the dio base done.Tongue [:P] Thanks.

ShermanFirefly: Thanks. Not exactly the best thing that could happen to a sherman but hey, the allies did have the 17pdr.Wink [;)]

Thanks all. I really appreciate you giving a piece of your mind on my work.

Terrific job, Dwight!

You don't need to build a big diorama with lots of figures to be involved in the group build, by the way. Just a gun! Any scale. All are still welcome, and will be until the group build closes on July 1.

Looks great Dwight!
Like the planks under the rear legs of the mount, was the crew looking for a little extra depression on the gun?

Very nice diorama, Dwight. You are really getting good at this scale modeling stuff..! I'm very impressed by the church ruins, as I really like seeing something else that the usual Verlinden stuff..! I do hope you just did not break your wife's flower pot for this base, though..! LOL I'd never do that! Evil [}:)]

The 88 and the trailer and the figures are superb.

As per the GB, very nice job.
WHen you say foamboard for the cobblestone walk, can you elaborate on that a little. Not too sure what you mean by 'foamboard'. Is it the pink insulation foam or something totally different?

Dwight,

AWSOME... I love the look of the 88s You have done wonderful with this old kit. It just goes to show that even an out of the box kit can look great. I like it all the weathering, the dio all of it... A+

You say the sidewalk is out of foam? Is that the dense carving foam? I have a bunch of that but have yet to try it out.

Again great work...

Sorry Ryan, I did miss that one. There, I corrected it already.

Anyway, I used Tamiya Field Grey Acrylic (darkened with a little Flat Black) as basecoat and drybrushed it with Artist's Acrylic (in tubes). This is the first time I used artist's acrylics for drybrushing because I thought that they were too thick. But I guess there is always a first for everything. Thanks.
