Although I haven't posted any pics here, I am pretty sure you can do it here

Thanks guys. I have a T-34 I wanted to do a white wash on. ABARNE- any pictures of your Sherman??

I could easily shoot some construction photos of it, but it seems as though I need a website to post them to, in order to insert a link to them. Or am I missing something obvious and over-complicating things?

That's fantastic Dwight. Great diorama. Thanks for the help (and I wished I would have seen your paint job before I did mine. The whitewash looks great. How did you do it, if you don't mind me asking?)

1.) The tank was painted Olive Drab overall.

2.) Then I applied a white wash (thinned flat white) with a wide soft brush with the bristles somewhat in disarray. This is to simulate the hasty white wash job done be crew on the field using mops, rags or just paintbrushes. I applied the white wash not totally covering the tank just randomly with strokes coming from the top going down. I also skipped areas where the crew aer likely to skip like turret undersides..etc.

3.) Then a minimal dark wash overall. Streaks are done with a fine brush.

4.) Then I drybrushed with lightened OD on some raised portions.

5.) Then I drybrushed with dirt colored paint on some areas most likely to get dirty easily.

I think there are other ways to do this type of finish but this is how I did mine.

Hope this helps.Smile [:)]

In addition to the deck stowage that Dwight demonstrated in his kit, oftentimes there would be rails or handles made from thin bar and welded to the sides or back of the turret. I believe these were field modifications, so there was no real standardization. From these, various kinds of field packs might be hung. I used some fairly thin wire to make a such mounting rail on the back of my Sherman's turret, with three field packs hung from it. I think the trickiest part, is to carefully shape the mounting surface of the packs so that they really looks like something soft pressed up against the steel.

Jwest21,

I have done the same kit just recently. Here's how I fixed the stowage. I used a knitting thread to simulate a rope to tie down the stowage.

Hope this helps.

A mix of all three I imagine depending on what was handy. The stowage was done out of necessity rather than design since the crews basically lived in and around their vehicle while on the front line.

I just finished Tamiya's Sherman 105 howitzer. The kit has a lot of extra stowage for the back bt it just doesn't look right just sitting there. How did they secure this stuff to the tank-rope, cable, straps? Or was is a mix?
