Greatmodels question
Posted by pmm736 on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 1:48 PM
Can somebody with experience with Greatmodels answer a question, because their web site is confusing (not to mention they somehow manage to lose your account name). When the order staus page shows that an item is processed, does that mean that it's available, not available, shipped, waiting shipment? I can't tell from their FAQ and Iv'e heard that they are slow on e-mail response. Ordered a bunch of stuff during the armor sale 2 weekends ago and haven't heard from them since. Any clarification would be helpful. Thanks, Pete

Don't know what "Processed" means. But, I have never had a problem with ordering from them. They ship promptly once the item is in stock as well. I deal with them frequently and have had nothing but good luck.

processed means it was shipped on that date or will go out the next day. Don't know where you are, but a point of reference- it takes 7 days to get it UPS from them adn 4 days Fedex. I live near Pittsburgh. If you checked UPS, you will get a tracking e-mail in 2-3 days after it ships. Noting gets e-mailed with Fedex

On the order status page, when the item status in "Processed" it means that the items have been packed for shipment. The date represented next to the "Processed" message is the date that the package is being taken to the shipper you specified when you placed the order. Your "Quantum Ship Notification" e-mail will normally show up a day or two after the order has processed (particularly since they do not work on weekends). If you haven't gotten an e-mail notification, give them a call.

At the bottom of the status page, where you elect to have the "In Stock" items shipped and those not in stock either cancelled or held for backorder, you will see one of three status messages. 1) Your order does not meet the $10 minimum, 2) Your order is being packed, or 3) Current "In Stock" Total is $XX.XX.

As for "loosing" account names, I really have no explaination. I've had the same name with GreatModels for over two years with no problems. They also have outstanding customer service in my experience. I frequently call them directly to make order changes or inquiries and they always help me out immediately during the call.

Hope this helps...

I have had good experiences with customer service. 2 examples are 1) just ordered the Italeri Chaffee from them and it contained 2 C sprues and no B sprue. I emailed them and 5 days later, I got a reply saying a replacement was sent. and 2) I ordered the Revell 1/72 U-Boot from them and when I got it, it looked like it took a depth charge. Revell sent me a replacement for eveything but the hull which was broken (They said it would cost them too much). Great models sent me a whole new kit for free.

Thanks you guys, that answered my questions. I didn't realize that you didn't get a shipping notification with Fedex. Guess I'll use UPS next time. I'm on Long Island so I guess delivery time would be a couple of days later than Pittsburgh. As far as the user name goes, when I tried to log in, I got a reply that the name was not recognized. I noticed a couple of guys mentioned in the thread about the sale that they had similar problems. Guess I'll wait a few days and see if the problem corrects itself. I guess I can always create a new account. Anyway, thanks for the info.

I have not had any issues with the user name. I wonder if your user data is corrupted on their end

Something to bear in mind, the user name for logging into their site is case sensitive. Don't know if this could explain it, but maybe...

Just a little to add...

My user name was not working, either. Living about 45 or so miles from GM, I went down to pick up some stuff on Veteran's Day. I told them about it, they tried it, said it wouldn't work, but the records showed it should and they'd check on it. My guess is something got bunged up and they fixed it.

I've had no problems with them and all of their phone/counter people have always been very helpful and friendly.

Glad your id is working again.

Hey, the problem may have been on GreatModel's end. I experienced the same problem yesterday afternoon. I was told I had nothing on order, which I know is wrong. I checked back a couple of hours later and everything came up fine. Go figure.

I checked mine last night, and it still won't let me log on. Says there is no such user. However, GM assures me it is active. Guess I'll have to call them again today!!
