Zok: This the latter release from Dragon.

Alex: Hey you are being way too kind. I am still within my regular pace of about at one kit a month. Besides I build OOB so I really don't spend too much time in looking for AM, PE or doing modifications.

Ex949: Actually the kit decals came with a clear plastic cover for protection, I guess. I peeled the top cover off but still find the deals too thick so I didn't use them.

BTW Bill do you have a pic that I can refer to as far as that candy pattern you are talking of?

Great job dwight! It looks really good.

I also had trouble with the decals for this kit... For some reason tho, I could slide it off the back sheet, and there was still another layer you could take off the front face of the decal - but then it made the decal really fragile so be careful if you try this (use some of the leftover decals to experiment first). I'm not sure why that is.

Slightly off-topic:

Mike, You'll like the DML Hummel...it's a fun build with a lot of opportunity for detailing inside the fighting compartment. The only issue you will run into with it is the fit of the side "box" panels for the fighting compartment superstructure. Be careful with their fit as it's very easy to assemble them in a way that creates eiether a gap at the front edge or in the middle where the gun shield goes. I think this is due to the simple fact that they used the same panels as in the Hornisse and adapted it slightly to take the 15cm howitzer mount for the Hummel. Wink [;)]

Dwight. what a beautiful looking Hornise. As already stated your work is just so darn impressive. No doubt you will find a theme for this in one of your great dioramas. I just recently purchased the DML Initial Hummel, I've wanted to build one for quite some time. I just hope it can come out half as nice as the job you've done on your Hornisse.

Yeah, don't worry about the guide horns on the tracks, particularly since some tracks on the Pzr IV chassis family of vehicles had solid horns anyway. It's entirely possible for a Hornisse to have tracks just as you've modelled!

UPDATE:
A quick look at some ref pix did indeed reveal just that. Plenty of Hornisse pix with solid guide horned tracks!

Nice finish Dwight! Didn't catch the in-progress shots before. Your completed shots don't include one of the rear, did you paint the aiming stakes the candy-striped red-white? They were unfinished in the first round of pics. Excellent job overall on this one for sure. Thumbs Up [tup]
