Pmm736,
Unfortunately because this monster is so big, it's impossible for me to take good shots with my usual studio arrangements. As a result, it gets a mix of sunlight from the window and the gooseneck lamps and the end result ends up "bluer" than it ought to be. The actual finish is a basecoat of MM enamel Russian Armor Green with MMP Camo Green applied to provide a worn/dusty overall look. "Russian" green is almost as dubious a color as OD green...so many different possible shades depending on time-period, field conditions, etc. that it's one of those endless debate type of things. This is my first attempt at Russian armor, so I'm hardly an expert on it.
While a little blurry, this shot shows the true color better. Always an adventure trying to show RL online via photography.
Gdarwin,
The M10 "Duckbill" is called that because of the oversize counterweights fitted to the back of the turret. Other versions of the M10 had the normal size counterweights and didn't get the "duckbill" designation.
Dwight, Nmayhew,
Thanks for the kind words as always!
Eric,
This kit built very smoothly, a real surprise considering all the interior work that gets done before the hull is secured. Ended up using CA to secure the hull halves but that was just to insure an all-around even fit more than anything. It's the only Trumpeter kit I've ever built, but it was a very positive experience all around.
