                        don't worry about what you're going to do with the paint.. if it looks right to you, then it is right. you should do this hobby for the fun of it, not to make it confusing.. Big Smile [:D]

                        So far so good...this is ony the first coat, just showing them :) Lemme know if i missed something!

                        I have done a number of cars, boats and yes...PLANES...OMG DUCK...lol
                        I have always liked tanks and really want to do a DIO of one in action or something...so away i went to get one:)

                        I am still futzing with this one tho...the turret has got me stumped...i dunno gonna keep at it tho:)

                        Ok here is the first of many progress pics, how is this for a color???? It's Citidel Shadow Grey. Oh and I know i need work on my seams and all, i just got all excited...think of this as my test tank:)

                        Definitely do a wash of some type to bring out the details. I'm curious to see how it will turn out.

                        NO WAY, you are not being weird!!! I always do my own camo jobs, and I'm 100% behind people who paint however they want. (as long as its not an airplane mural or somethingBig Smile [:D]) finish it and let's see some pics!!!

                        May I advise painting your models whatever color you want!! I would suggest a very dark gray though with a black wash, this way those details will show up better.

                        Just curious as to why you want to paint the tank black. German tank were painted Panzer grey, known as Schwartzgrau, or dark yellow, known as Dunkelgelb. I can't think of any other coutntry that were black either. Good luck.

                        I have seen some prett creative paint jobs on armor. Some of those being captured German tanks in Kubinka, Russia. I haven't seen one yet that was black.

                        The Tamiya Panzer II Afrika Korp is the EASIEST beginner tank I have seen so far.
                        The kit should cost about 10 bucks, and includes figures.
                        You can pick up 2 kits, practice on one, and be serious with the other and still be at the 20 dollar mark and have the same thing with figures.

                        I haven't done too much yet in my career (ok, ok, "hobby") as a modeler, but I didn't have any problems on tamiya's hanomag 251/1

                        Tamiya’s T 34, or Pz II should be good starter kits, and are relatively cheap (you may not feel as bad, if you make a mistake)

                        I also think that Italeri’s Pz IV H is a decent kit for a beginner. It has some tricky parts, but that can be great for a learning process without stretching the budget.

                        If money is no object, I would suggest a Tiger I early production by Tamiya. I just built the late production, and am in the process of building the early one with a PE set. These kits really fly together, and are quite accurate.

                        I agree about the Tamiya Panzer III Ausf. L. I would also recommend Tamiya's Stug III Ausf. G, it is a great kit and so easy to build.

                        Tamiya M4A3 Sherman (skip the side armor: they're inaccurate)
                        Tamiya Pz III ausf L
                        Tamiya Cromwell
                        DML Panther A or D (but has individual track links, though)
                        Tamiya Panther ausf G (several variants)
                        Tamiya Tiger I, Afrika or Early Production
                        Tamiya Tiger II (either new molds)
                        Tamiya 3.7cm flak Mobelwagen
                        Skybow Dodge WC 52/53 (delicate parts but nice)
                        Academy M-12 SPG
                        Tamiya M26 Pershing
                        Tamiya T-55 Soviet MBT
                        DML T-34/85 (indy links)
                        DML ISU 122/152 series (indy links)


                        Good list. I'm sure others will give their thoughts, too.

                        Well i already have gotten advice from Sherman freak and others to get a small tank or like a flakpanzer or the like. If someone could compile a good list of "beginner" Armor peices that would kick A$$ !!

                        Also i am really new to weathering is there a good online source for learning this?

                        This is for future refernce due to my unemployment from a car accident, but at least i can plan:)
