Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 6:51 PM
I want to give Testors a great BIG THANKS!!!
I seriously messed up my AZTEK airbrush, then I took it apart which voided the warranty.
I sent it to Testors and explained what I did and asked them to fix it..
They didn't the fix it, they just sent me a NEW one!!!
Now that is customer service!!!!!!!Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]Big Smile [:D]

You might be in a minority, judging from previous complaints of former Aztek owners. Big Smile [:D] Now I wonder if they will exchange mine even though its been smashed to a 1000 pieces by a sledgehammer? Evil [}:)]

I've found that some of the best customer support departments come from the companies with the worst products, i.e. Gateway, Dell, Ford, HP/Compaq, and now Testors. Is there a pattern forming here?

Don't get me wrong. Some great companies are even greater because of their support. I'm not name bashing here.

I had the same experience with my A320. a little too aggressive cleaning, I sent it back with a short note, 3 weeks later a brand new one came in the mail. I was pleased with the response from testors.Cool [8D]

I like my AZTEK and other than the small problems with cleaning it the first few times, and learning what to do and what NOT to do, it has been a great airbrush.. It REALLY helped me when Testors replaced it because of my own stupidity because it was a birthday present from my wife.

I myself am not pleased at all with testors service departments.
I had a kit missing parts.
They asked for the part number and a reciept proving that I bought the kit.
They lost that and said that I now have to send them the kit for replacement.
I then told them that they lost the paper work and it was now their responsability to replace the parts reguardless.
I felt that I did my part and did not feel that I should now pay more money to send them a kit through the mail.
They told me that they will not send me the parts unless they get the kit back.
I then reminded them that I have alot of friends on the web that would be interested in hearing about my problems with their companys return policy.
They promptly sent out the parts that week.

Guess what, "they sent me the wrong parts".

I got so fed up with it I shelfed the project.
And now it sits collecting dust

Sorry for the rant.
Just had to vent ya' know.

I just chaulked up my experiance as bad luck.
I know that most companys are very good about things like that.
Its just that one left a pretty foul taste.

I guess I'm going to get to join you guys in your evaluation. My Aztek isn't working quite right. I messed up my red tip last week. (Too much of that non-allowed cleaning, I guess!) But now, no matter what tip I put in it, when I spray anything (including plain thinner to test it), I get air bubbles coming back into the paint cup. Now I'm far from being any kind of expert, but I know that aint right! I'm not sure what's causing it. Maybe Mr. Testor can figure it out!

Sounds like a blockage of sorts between the paint cup and and air chamber - or atleast that what it is when it happens on my paashe.

A cotton swab or rolled up piece of tissue with the type of thinner your paint uses will generally clear that up.

That's kind of what I was thinking. But it still sprays whatever is in the paint cup. Not very well, necessarily, but it does come out! I've gone back to my Badger 200. Maybe I'll get brave and get my old Binks Wren out of mothballs, or real brave and get my Pasche VL out!

Thanks for the reply.

Hey guys,

Any suggestions as to which type of compressor is adequate? And also, how much air pressure do you need, 28psi or up to 40 psi?

Okieboy,
I use a Campbell/Hausfield (sp?) from Walmart and it works GREAT.. You should not have to use anything over 25 psi.. I ususally shoot acrylics thru my Aztek at 15-20 psi.

Wipw,
The best thing to clear blockages is to swab a q-tip with laquer thinner (that stuff will clean anything) deep inside the aztek while pulling the trigger all the way back. You can also use 90% alchohol..

I don't find any kind of blockage. It's an Aztek and the paint passage is pretty much a straight through (okay, it's got a 90 degree bend in it) shot. It appears to be wide open. Oh well, my Badger 200 is doing well!
Thanks for the suggestions, guys!

Yeah, Testors is cool about that. I had an Italeri Me-262 with a mis-molded canopy. They said it would take about 7-10 days to recieve the part. In three days I recieved a large box. It was a whole me-262 kit. (cool). Two days after that a small box came with the clear parts.(sweet)
