I'm baaaack!...rebuilt Alan 1/35 Marder IID
Posted by the doog on Wednesday, April 11, 2007 7:54 AM
Hi guys! I'm back from my trip around Europe--it was amazing!! I visited the Kaiserburg castle of Nuremburg, saw the Zeppelinfield,  visited the Acropolis in Athens, and walked on Moscow's Red Square! WOW!! Anyhoo, back to my new photos...this is the 1/35 Alan Marder IID with the rebuilt rear screen more commonly seen. I did it with plastic rod and wedding veil, and finished it in Tamiya acrylics. Enjoy!

I agree. You did a great job on that kit.

looks great man!  Nice touch with the screen on the back!  A couple of things to note would be the decals.  They look pretty clean compared to the rest of the vehicle, should weather them also!  There is a seam in the first picture on the breach of the gun.  It's quite noticeable, and should be easy to fix!  Nicely done man!  More pictures would be great!!!

Wow, the subtle tones and colouring on this one really make it look fantastic.

Very nicely done doog i did the same kit a while back in the same scheme and was pleased with the result, your scratch built mesh rear looks great, everybit as good as the PE set i used on mine.

Welcome back, always fun to go to historic places and return alive! Big Smile [:D]

Your Marder II is nicely done with the whitewash scheme, I agree with the others on the items already mentioned.

thanks guys, for the kind comments and tips; I see the seam I missed--that'll be an easy fix! The decals/markings were done as per the photographic reference, it looked like they were freshly stencilled or outlined on, so I did 'em as such. Boy, I wish I'd known there was a PE set for this before I started it! All comments always welcomed though, I'll never get better if I don't get honest criticisms! Thumbs Up [tup]I plan to chime in on the other active topic about this matter as soon as I get my stupid taxes done!SoapBox [soapbox] What a lousy chore to come home to!! Anyway, I'll be posting some more photos soon; a late kitbashed Hummel, and a one-off field-mod StuG IIIC L/48!

I've considered this kit and your build is pushing me to get one. Hard to believe it's an Alan kit. Weathering is really nice and I like the way you applied it to the lower half. Nice whitewash too. I look forward to your future kits.
