Tamiya Char B1 Bis: "Tunisie" completed
Posted by T26E4 on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 8:57 PM

Howdy All: I managed to get this guy done for the April 07 AMPS International Show. Originally, I was going to build this as Indochine, one of the Tamiya provided decal options. However, I was given a set of Archer Dry Transfers' "Tunisie" markings for the Char B1 Bis -- and I couldn't turn it down.  You can click onto the image to pull up a larger picture.

The model "in progress":

ere's the model before major weathering began:

And here she is after finishing:

I was fortunate to be awarded a Gold in the Intermediate category.  My special thanks to Paul Owen who provided me the review samples (from Megahobby.com and Archer Transfers) and my modelling buddy on the Char B1 bis journey, Andrew Hall. His dedication to the fidelity of the tank drew me forward. Thnx Andrew!

That's a real stunner Roy. The tracks look great as does the rest. I admit that these beasts are growing on me after seeing a few built up. Congrats on the award, well deserved.

I have to agree.  Your Char looks superb, and the kit is kind of growing on me, too.

How did the kit go together for you?  Any particular problems/issues you had to pay attention to?

Thanks all for the compliments.  No real problems.  Some detailing tweaks and a few issues to add.  Here's a current thread about them over on Planet armor

Beauty of a job Roy this kit was always on my wish list long before it was ever released by Tamiya so it was a must have for me and i loved building it, its always nice to see one finished especially as well as this one, Great looking build.

always the rivet counter Smile [:)]

nice build, grasshopper hopes to be able to acomplish such feets some day.

And nice touch on the weathering - I see what you mean about a lighter touch.

I echo the praises Roy. I'm glad that you were actually able to build something amongst all your other activities, and I can tell you had some fun on this kit too.

Congratulations...well done.

Very nicely done!  That scheme is not an easy one to do, but you've done it very well!  Cool [8D] Thumbs Up [tup] Thumbs Up [tup]
