Outstanding!!!Thumbs Up [tup] Bow [bow]

I think the weathering is great, not too much to muddy up such a fabulous build. I feel your pain with the decision of shelving it for a while. I have a 1/24 bf109 that sat on the shelf for about seven months for the same reasons. It is a kit I bought at a contest/show and it is a 17 year old MPC. I finally brought it down and finished it, then brought it to work for the obligatory ooohs and aaahhhhs. There it sat in my car for the rest of the day Sign - With Stupid [#wstupid] and when I got home with it....................Boohoo [BH]Boohoo [BH] the sun had warped it so bad it split at the seams and the wings went banana on me. Black Eye [B)]

Oh well, there went 11 months down the drain. BUT I learned an awful lot building that kit that has helped me with every other kit I have since built.Shy [8)]

Hey Lycra Man, it was easy. Fruils are sweet. All i did was cut blob of cyano off of one link, pulled the pin and they were apart. (I didnt glue them to the tracks) Had loads of spare wire. Re-wired the link and done.Zokissima i use Hannants here in the UK for most of my bits. They had the Jordi barrels and the Fruil tracks.                            http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=FO3575 http://www.hannants.co.uk/search/?FULL=JR3555

They will post to the States i believe. All i suggest is check for major warpage. A little hot water and patience does wonders.

Shoot, just like that? I figured it would be a major undertaking. Now I don't feel so bad. Cool [8D]

Looking forward to the KT.

Wow, fantastic work on this beast. I've had one in my stash for years, just hard to find any decent references to improve the kit. Can you tell me which Fruil set, and which Jordi Rubio barells you used?

As for the build itself, I can only mirror the above comments. The weathering is spot on, and really showcases the enormous size of this monster.

Mant thx for the kind words all. Your right Dahut, the wheels are weathered but not half as much as they should be. Lycra man, i have turned the track around now but i didnt notice it. Good eyes fella.

Crockett, Manny, good comments coming from you guys means the world to a newb like me.

In Espins stylee. T35 fact of the day...(Everyone should have at least one fact about there model that others may not know) Although the tank was a monster the turrets were all separated internally making the beast quite claustraphobic for the crew. Also if one of the front turrets was disabled in the wrong position the driver was unable to escape as there wernt any escape hatches. Bummer!!!

Really glad you liked it BTW, going to post some pics of my King Tiger WIP later tonight.

Luftwoller, that thing is amazing...what the hell IS it? Did the russkies not have many? It seriously does look more like a battleship than a tank!

Maybe I'm nuts...or it's supposed to be this way...I don't even want to mention it with 220ish links per...but aren't your tracks going different directions on each side? Ashamed [*^_^*]

Looks like you managed all the pitfalls with the kit expertly. I really like the model, the Fruils really set it off. Great work on an unusaul subject. The variety is certainly welcome on the boards, again congratulations on a very good job here.

Very cool! I've never seen one either. Leave it to the Russians...

I didnt strain my eyes looking for flaws on your excellent work, but I did see one thing that makes me wonder. Maybe there's an explanation.

There is dust and dirt, rust and great weathering right down to the well worn, rusty tracks. But there isn't a speck of dirt on the wheels themselves! It's like someone pressure washed them before the pic was snapped.

Is there something I should know, but don't?

Cheers, David

Hi Moon Pup, sorry i didnt reply earlier. A pin wash is where you apply a very localised dark wash, like around a bolt head or tool clamp etc. 'Mig Pig' is just my slang for Mig pigments. They are very finely ground pastels and are found in modt hobby shops. Hopefully someone else can enlighten you to more info on here.

Far out man, let's just say it's a tribute to a late oneAngel [angel]!

I get the just of what you are saying. make the paint sloppy. Hum, I have been looking to do mostly aircraft now i'm hooked again but this peaks my interest.

Can someone define "Pin washes"  and Mig Pig or point me to a newby faq?

Man, very nicely done. Weathering is not over the top, just about right I'd say. That's a heck of size comparison with the Tiger. I never realized just how large they were.

Thx man. Yeah it was about 220 (Cant remember of hand, seemed like 400 a side) It definately was a whopper. Ive found a few pics of it in the field but i dont think any saw any tank on tank action. Manny may put us right. Heres a couple.

Luft,

I'm just awe-struck by this one, man. I wouldn't have noticed that gap if it hadn't been pointed out, and now I figure I'd just cover it up with a tarp or something. No biggie.

I love the weathering job you've done, and I can't see any place where it doesn't look dead-on. I also love that star embossed into the roof of the main turret. I would probably dry-brush the edges of that, if it's raised, just to show it off a little more. But of course I tend to overdo these things, so don't listen to me.

I've never even seen this thing before. Must've been a seriously scary thing to see on the battlefield, although not a small target. How many track links are we lookin' at here? 200 per side or so?

Thx all, i really appreciate all the kind words. This was a good build for me as it was soo bent when i 1st got it out, I put it too one side, thinking one day ill do it. So getting it back out and finishing reasonably well has made my day.

Moon Puppy (Child of the 60s?) and Ben i weathered this beast using methods that i have borrowed from helpfull ppl on the forum. After painting with Tamiya acrylics, I used several washes and then some stronger Pin washes finishing with Mig Pigments. The mud affect was done by mixing the Mig Pigs with some white glue and slopping it on liberally.

Thx again all.

Amazing work and amazing tank! I never heard of it before. how could they find ground that could support it!

How do you get the textured effect on the underside of the hull?

Good eyes Joe, This kit (Alanger) was bent as a bent thing. It spent so much time in hot water i was going to name it Nixon or Nautilus.  Big Smile [:D] I was going to leave the fender off for a slightly damaged look to the beastie but decided to leave it in the end as the Shurzen wouldnt have looked right. Hey im glad you all like it. Gives me impetus to start my next biggy...A Tiger 2 with etch, tracks and Barrel.

Hey Luftwoller,

Very impressive. The only thing I see is the joint (gap) between the hull and fender on the right side. It's the second picture. I'd go Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup].

Its definately not the tank for your first attempt at Fruil tracks. I took Espins idea and was doing them on a tea tray on my lap while watching tv. Still took nearly 3 nights lol.
