I use tissue paper from gift bags, etc., as well. I also will add a little acrylic paint to the water and glue mixture. Works pretty well, especially when I use white tissue paper.

I like that kit too, it gives me some good ideas for a "future/sci-fi" tank build that I have kinda-sorta been working on

Simply beautiful!  You did an excellent job weathering.  Not to mention unique, not a subject you see everyday.  Thumbs Up [tup]

I'd avoid using T-P. It's designed to break down in water. I used facial tissue, aka Kleenex for tarps. Roll them up and brush on a 1:1 white glue/water mixture. You can tie them with thread at this point and and drape them where you want them to dry. When dry, remove and paint.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.

Nice build, one of my "dream projects", kinda. I do tarps from tissue and white glue also, but for "tissue", I use the thick stuff that's used as wrapping paper. It comes in colors, and that helps in painting....sometimes it's hard to get in all the little nooks and crannies, and if you use, say red tissue for an allied air recognition tarp, your inaccessable parts look like darkened areas. It's a little sturdier, when forming, than regular facial tissue, and still lays down well. I've also just added my desired color acrylic paint to the glue mixture.

sweeeeeeeeet. very nice. i always thought the chain skirt on the back of the turret was pretty cool. about the tarps, i use tissue paper dipped in a mix of white glue and good old H2O(that would be water). im not sure what the mix ratio is, but i think its 50/50. anyway, dip the t-paper in the mix, and wring it out LIGHTLY. very important part. then shape it while wet and let it dry. after its dry, you can paint it, weather it, whatever. its pretty indestructible(by modeling standards). well, hope this helps Moose, and keep the tanks rollin', they look great!!

It's a Legends conversion kit for the academy Merkava IIID.  The kit replaced the road wheels, upper hull, turret side skirts.  Also included he ball and chain armour and a small PE set as well.  Pretty much the only thing left was the lower hull, rear escape hatch, some small details and the suspension.  The suspension has much to be desired, but it's not really visable.  Therefore, I didn't mess with it and left it stock. However, I did use Friulmodel tracks on my kit.

Very very cool--what a neat looking tank! Looks like a spaceship or something!

WHo makes it? Was it a conversion? Or a full kit?

This turned out great Moose! I've always had pretty good luck making tarps out of foil, primed and painted. They hold the shape you want them to very well, but I'm still sorta new at this so more experienced builders are bound to offer advice.

Merkava IIID finally done, I think

I finally finished up my Merkava IIID for the modern GB.  But then I noticed that I forgot to hang some lengths of chain to hold up the tow cables.  Also, I am trying to figure out the best way to make some tarps.  I would like to add them to the turret basket and the crew storage baskets on the rear.  Any suggestions would be helpful.  Well, here are the pics enjoy.  I know I did.  Was the first resin conversion kit, that I built.  Woops! I forgot to install the machine guns for the commander and loader.Banged Head [banghead]
