Looks good to me- what color did you use and are those PE fenders?

Looks pretty good to me--I might've added a little more dark steel drybrushing around some of the edges, and on the tools just for contrast, but the whole tank looks fine as is!

Did you "wear" the tops of the tracks? Sand would scrape away that rust right quickly...

Couple things that jump out in particular. The first is the very visible ejector marks on the spare links that you added to the hull front and glacis. You've done a good job weathering them and making them look at home where they are with the rest of the vehicle but the presence of those marks really takes away from that, especially since the dusty weathering effect has settled into them making them even more visible. Some careful work with putty or sanding would have elimanted them and greatly enhanced the end result.

The other is the gun muzzle brake, the blackening effect you've applied is very heavy, almost as if it had been firing black powder charges instead of WW2 smokeless powder, and also detracts IMHO from the overall finish you're aiming for here. Maybe go back over it and dry-brush some of the base-paint color to bring it back inline with the rest but still retain some discoloration?

 

Looks good Moose. I like the finish and such, but did notice the tracks. Oh well, the camera can be brutal sometimes.

A couple of other small, easy to do, touch-ups would help bring it up a notch. The 4 lenses of the convoy light on the left rear fender should be painted green. There is a small reflector just below it on the fender that should be red. The brake light above the right rear fender should have a orange lens in the top position and a red lens in the bottom. Small details like these will add a extra level of detail and are very easy to do. Keep up the good work!

Moose let me 1st say I love the build and finish and would be happy to have that on my shelf.  The others have made some good points.

Up 'til now I have only built aircraft and have only just finished my 1st tank.  At my clubs big annual contest I usually help with the armor judging since I am in a bunch of the aircraft categories.  Best thing in the world to do is to judge some contests if you want to improve your skills. One of the things that a well seasoned armor builder/judge told me to look for when looking at the tracks was to see if you noticed the spot where the indy links where joined.  The usual places where the drive gear and/or idler.  If you look at the right idler there tread are not parallel at 1 spot.  I know it seems minor. I like to keep in mind what another judge once told me.  “Most important…build for you…then build like a judge was going to look at it.”

road wheel alignment looked odd. did you put the axles on backward?

I noticed the tracks.  I thought I did a good job till I painted and installed.  The weathering really bought out the mistake.  As for the to black muzzle break.  Looking back it is a bit to much.  My biggest problem was when I weathered it with the african dust.  I ended up with it to dusty.  Thanks for the constructive critism.  It means alot to me.  Makes me strive to become even better.

I didn't even know the colors of the lights and reflectors til you told me.  Thanks will keep it mind for the next one.

I used panzer gray 401, for the base coat, followed by sand brown then a light overspray of sand yellow.  I used the sand yellow to lighten up and to give the faded look.  I use Gunze Sangyo acrylics.  As for the fenders, the rear ones I thinned them and the front were replaced by the PE ones out of the Aber set.

As for the axles and road wheel alignment, It's stock positions.  I do know that one of the return wheels is not the double but a single.  The floor claims another piece.  I kept the rust to a bare minimum.  Figured there is not alot of water in the desert. Also the sand was murder on it and the paint. 

To all, I don't plan on fixing the minor problems that you help point out.  I like to have a reminder of the progression of my skills.
