M923A1 w/ M198 Howitzer Last update......for a while.
Posted by HeavyArty on Saturday, April 26, 2008 8:19 AM

It looks like I won't have time to finish this one before I leave for Iraq.  It is the Italeri M923A1 truck w/CAM Design wheels and lots of scratch details.  The M198 is the resin kit from Airmodel.  They will be together and the truck will be full of gear once completed.  I don't think I will take them with me to Iraq though, so it will be at least 15-18 mos. before they get finished up.  Here they are so far:

That's one of the bad things about going overseas, thanks for sharing Gino. And thanks for your service, too.

I'm from the government and I'm here to help.

Very nice combo there Gino... a lot of nice work there! Damn those Italeri pin marks though.

Be safe, log on here (and elsewhere) when you can. (If you can snap any mortars along the way, please send them along.)

Thanks for your service!

Thanks,

It's hard to appreciate the size of the howitzer until it is paired up with the truck.  And then, oh my- that's a big gun!  They both look great so far and it shows in the details.  Good luck over in the sand and we'll see you when you return.

Gino

Overall looks great. Two minor things...The decals on the hood look a little silver. Also I see you had as much fun as I had with all the pin marks on the M923. Missed two on the inside of the drivers door!

Love the dash. Did the build USMC style....nice.

As for the trip...we have alredy talked...remember...10 fingers, 10 toes

You know where to get me

Keep your powder dry!! God Bless

Rounds Complete!!.......Waiting for EOMThumbs Up [tup]

Thanks for the compliments and support from all.  I'll stay safe and should be in regular contact.  I'll be in Baghdad at a pretty built up base, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Steve - We don't call it First of the Worst anymore, first I have heard it actually.  Ft Hood is huge now, you probably wouldn't even recognize it anymore.

Mike- yup, those pin marks are a b#!ch.  I guess I missed a few; amazing what the camera lens will show.  I'll probably fill them when I start up on it again.  I think it may just be light on the decal. It doesn't look silvered with the naked eye.

Nice progress! The truck really does bring the gun into perspective! I'm looking forward to seeing them done. Take care. Cowboy [C):-)]

Gino,

Excellent build, very well done so far and great work airbrushing the camo around the contours of the gun. It's too bad we won't see this one done for a while, but you'll definently be missed on this forum until you return. Thanks alot for your service.

 Stay safe,

Holie Tamolie HeavyArty - Those look great.  Your photos have sparked my interest in building a non-tracked vehicle.

Best wishes and safe travels.
