That interior you've created is spectacular. I mean seriously, it looks like the real deal. I have to share your consternation about the steering column.  Honestly, how can you omit such crucial details? Certainly has me scratching my head. Although, I know you will correct that in amazing fashion.

Steering column installed with the scratch built gear shift lever, turn signal/ multifunction switch and tilt lever. I also managed to put an ignition switch as well as the ignition key and door lock key on a key ring. The ignition key was then inserted into the switch and glued into place.

That is indeed much, much better. Fantastic work on creating the necessary detail. What did you use to make the levers and switches? And, yes, the key is a marvelous touch. I also love the detail work and painting you've done on the dash dials and switches. It all looks the very realistic part. Well done my good friend. 

Thanks Joe. The shifter lever was made from a needle that was shaped and I used a drop of glue for the shifter knob. The turn signal and tilt levers were made from different sizes of solder that I had that were all cut to length and painted. The ignition switch bezel and keys were PE parts that I had in the stash. The key ring was scratch built from wire.

I simply could NOT fathom doing all that work to the interior and then using such a crappy OOB glass assy like this:



So ….. I cut it up into sections and cleaned the sections up some. I also fabricated some sun visors to help the realism out a tad:

I got the base color on but I still need to do some wet sanding here and there to remove a couple of dust specks and smooth some areas out. I've got her in the drying booth now for the next couple of days.

Got the gloss coat on. Here in the photos this is about 6 hours after application so this is already nice n' dry to touch. It'll be another 3-4 days till I bring all of this out of the drying booth. I'm really stoked about how this finish is going to look on the completed build.
This coat laid down perfectly smooth for me. Just check out the reflection of the light bulb with the scripts. No sanding, no polish....just clear.

That turned out great!  Which clear did you use?

I was going to say, before John beat me to the punch, I'll bet that clear coat ain't Future. (if you recall the advice you gave me on my VW last summer)

Like Joe said, you attention to detail is a joy to observe.

I dis a quick search and only found rattle cans.   Is that perfect job from a can?  Bought 2 btw

John: You wont regret buying that stuff and no sir... don't shoot it straight out of the can. Dispense it and shoot it through an airbrush. Being a lacquer base, make sure that your color coat is also lacquer or it'll destroy it. Lacquer doensn't mix well with other types of paint when sprayed over them.

Well guys...………...I had more done on this thing than I thought. the only real setback was that the exhaust tailpipes hung down too low. I had to break out the mini torch and carefully shield all the surrounding chassis and apply a little heat to it to tuck it back up where it belonged. The ending steps are a bit finicky with the front bumper being sandwiched between the body and the chassis but I've now got that done. I still need to re-paint the tail gate and install the upper radiator hose, side rear view mirrors and do some last minute clean up, polishing and a couple of other things but this one's almost there....

Mustang, do you need to reduce with lacquer thinner or do you shoot it in the same condition after it's out of the can?

Good to see ya bustin' a move on this one. It is coming out splendidly. Your latest push is certainly reflective of your remarkable attention to detail. It is turning into a beautiful truck fer sure.

These trucks have always been an interest of mine as they were a sleek looking truck with an out with an "in your face" and bold appearance. Although not fast by any means with 230 horsepower, they were aggressive looking, were among the fastest O.E.M. trucks out there at the time and they set the stage for the muscle trucks that followed in the years to come. It took me around 5 months to complete this one with most of the challenges being paint and the ending assembly of installing the body onto the frame. With a few pitfalls to work around it was a good kit to work with overall.

Of the 4-wheeled things I've watched you build in the past few years, this ended up being a favorite. Can't really explain why, it just is.

As always, great attention to detail. I agree that your engine compartment rocks and your little interior extras add so much.

Seems to me that you have your 4-wheelie building thing down to an art. You ought to be able to start cranking these out at a steady pace by now. And each one coming out as an eye-popping piece of miraculous.

Every one gets better Joe. I have never seen such a smooth off the gun paint job. I work in a paint shop with professional products and can't get a off the gun job like that.
