Why scrap it? Just throw some paint on there, and see how it come out. If you don't like it in the end, save it for the 4th of July! Evil [}:)]

I'm scrapping mine, to many problems I have run into.  Plus, the more I work on it, and look at my reference shots, the more and more I see how different this model car is compared to the one his mini was.

Very intresting project....I just completed one myself...as the missus is  huge Mr.Bean fan. the biggest problem I had was making the lock on the door. I ended up using strip styrene and part of a paper clip for the lock. Color wise for the greenish color Tamiya yellowgreen XF-4 was the closest I could find. I have a pic on SAE's webpage.  I too would have put in a figure of Mr. Bean if I could have found something even remotely close. Yours is Looking good so far. I'm looking forward to seeing your done....Gary

Oooo, I see. Well I don't have a lot of experience brushing gloss finishes by hand, so i'm going off the cuff here and spewing out ideas that I think sound like they would work....
Try painting the color with a soft, wide brush and thin the paint slightly. You don't want it to run, but you don't want it to show brush strokes either. You may need to practice this on some spare plastic. After that is completely dry, try several light ( and I mean very light) coats of Future. it dries with a high gloss and is pretty easy to brush on without leaving brush marks.

I dont know how to get that really smooth glossy finish hand brushing though.  I have no extra bottles, my AB isnt a gravity feed, so I cant do custom mixes for it right now (mixing bottles are all in use)

Spray the body the color you want first, let it dry, then polish it as much as you want. After it has dryed thoroughly, mask off around the door and paint the door a different color.

well, I'm making alot of progress on this little guy but I have come accross a quandry of an issue.  I need to paint one of the doors a different color then the rest of the kit, BUT the car body is one piece.  How do I get that shiny nice car finish hand brushing?

I started in, not as hard as I thought.

Here is the damage I did to the fender, melted the inside and then hit it to make dents, alittle bit poped through at the top and made a hole, I gota fix that with putty, so I gota get some soon.

I painted the inside black, and the hood. (ala my referenceS)

Great Idea! I never woulda thought of building that in a million years! Really cool. Now you need to do the part when his bike gets run over with a tank! (That's a stug, right?)

The episode where the Yellow Mini is crushed by the tank is hillarious! After he gets over the shock of seeing his crushed car, he walks over and removes the padlock, and puts it in his pocket. Mr. Bean then walks away like nothing happened! Big Smile [:D]

During the series there were several versions of Mr. Bean's Mini.

In the episode, "The Exam" Mr. Bean drives an Orange Mini!

smeagol, with respect to your feelings about Columbus--which I agree with, by the way--that's completely irrelevant to your build going on here, and won't do anything to encourage responses about your model here in this thread...there's other blogs and forums for political commentary...just something to think about?

See what you made me do now.

I pulled my Mini-model out(same as yours) and now need to finish it.

But I will do mine diffrently with the flag painted on the roof, not sure which country yet. My decal set has a few choices.

Will add wiring to the engine too. Using this build as a testbed for somet techs I want to use on the Rally Mini (got all the upgrade/AM parts for it too).

After looking at the stash I found I have about 15 Mini models even the rare ones like the Mini-moke and AutoBianchi Mini(Italian version).

Forgot, if you can get hold of the TVC-15 Mini's they are very close.

Said that they are resin and kinda hard to get hold of.

Only company I know that did the hatch-backs, Mini-mokes, etc in a decent scale.

He had 2 cars first got trashed  during 1st episode. My wife is a Mini and Mr Bean fan.

Either way it is your call.

Personally I would watch out for the fuel intakes, door hinges, bumpers, tail-lights, etc as those are major.

Don't worry about the windows, bonnet length, etc as they differ between models.

Either way your friend will appreciate it. If you want refence pics holler.

I won't post any pcis featuring the missus though

Myself don't recall a Sherman in 1/24 or 1/25, know they did a Challenger I though

Thanks zen, I know it isn't perfect, but It will have to do, its the closest I could get (I couldnt find the exact build of mini bean had.

I am going to try and mod the hood ornimant symbol so it looks more like the one on bean's mini though.

As far as this mini goes though, its less the model version and more the distinct yellow and black pattern, plus the deadbolt on the door and such that makes it his mini (he had a few diffrent ones through the series all posing as the same car.)

I think he will notice the diff between your model and Mr. Bean's car, "a late 1970s MK IV British Leyland Mini 1000".

If you check the Front the grill, bonnet, lights, etc are very different as well as the hood symbol.

He will appreciate it, but there is quiet a lot of differences between the Mini models and the makers of them. I know because my wife is a Mini Nut.

I tried to model one but settled on giving her the Corgi die-cast.

Building a Model of the Mini she owned was bad enough as there was no model even remoetly close to it.

As for bend fenders, etc I have used Incese sticks to heat the plastic from the inside to soften it enough to bend. Thining first will make the process quicker.

Hmmm, well Doog mentioned using a soldering iron to soften it and denting that way, I have a few crap junker kits i will try diffrent methods on (the body isnt that thick, so sanding might not work)

Looking pretty good... As for the damage, it looks pretty subtle if the front right area under the headlight is what you are talking about. I think the best way to represent that would be to sand the dents in with a sanding stick or a file. Then you just need to polish the plastic a bit before you paint to get the big scratches out, and you're left with some good looking dents.

Hey, a build of Mr. Bean's car getting run over by the Chieftain Tank would do in both Auto and Armour Catagories. Wasn't there a kit of a 1/25 Chieftain Tank out once?
