Ruined paint job?
Posted by modelbuilder on Friday, October 3, 2008 1:17 PM

Hi

I am working on a kit and decided to do a two tone paint job. I used blue painters tape to mask off the colors. When i removed it there was a residue left behind. Can this be cleaned or is the paint job ruined?

Modelbuilder-I had great luck using Goo Gone on an acrylic paint job.  I would suggest that if you can, paint a spare piece of plastic with the same paint and then test.  Also, rinse the area with water after removing the goo.  You can find small bottles at hobby & craft shops, and also probably at Home Depot/Lowes types of places.

Good luck. btw-I've been to Kings Mt.-wonderful place.  Is Wendel's (at the Y) still open?  Best bar-b-que that I've ever had.

I think you could probably use Windex?

Just use some fresh tape and apply and remove it quickly. You may need to do this several times.

Remember, if the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy.
