I would go with the resin transkit from JFP as mentioned above. The 78 Elky and the 72 Elky were different in the body, not just in the front clip. Later Elky's were based on the Malibu specifically. I can't remember exactly when the Malibu became seperate from the Chevelle line. The big thing is they are WAY different in body style 70-72, and then the 78. I have worked on both that friends owned. I worked on those for a long time. first my buddy's 70 for about a year and a half, he sold it to another friend and I worked on it for the next 3 years. The 78 I worked on entirely different body, much broader and beefier looking, worked on that turning it into a light to light street burner for a friend who was crippled(crazy guy lemme tell ya).
