Just finished detailing the first Pocher model I've ever built. I got it on ebay and it looked complete, but after I started working on it, I found that it was missing the fan belts, metal screws, and the thin hoses. I adapted, purchasing some shrink-tubing, and two large "o" rings. I used the shrink-tubing, over several paper clips to make the various small hoses, bending the metal clips into the shapes I wanted and then using a handheld hair dryer to shrink the tubing so that it was tight around the metal of the paper clip. The "o" rings became the fan belts.
I didn't like the color scheme used by Pocher (really dark green plastic for most of the kit) so I lightened everything up, using flat sand for the engine block and transmission, red for the valve colvers, brass for the large hose fittings and matt bronze for the turbocharger rail and clamps on the oil filter cans and motor mounts. Finished up with a coat of Metal Masters Dullcote.
I'm waiting for the plexiglass to arrive (to build a base for it). Here's a photo of the engine so far (click to enlarge):
