[usless knowledge from the history channel] Usually, it was the other way around. The Mustang pilots would fly around the German country side after the bombers had dropped their bombs looking for "targets of opportunity". The only time a ME-262 was vulnerable was either on the ground or during take off. Evidently they were pretty unstable at slower speeds, so the 262 pilots had to maintain a constant course during take off until they built up speed. And, by the time the Germans started using the 262 they were in a defensive mode in the war, mainly trying to shoot down the bombers and fighters during the bombing runs on Germany. I don't think the Germans ever got a chance to use them against the English/American airstrips in England.[/useless knowledge from the history channel]
