TRUMPETER - 1/25 AMERICAN LaFRANCE Eagle - OOB Completed
Posted by holdenmaniac on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 12:50 AM

I completed this a few years ago when I was very ill in bed. Due to this I got no photo's of the build, but here are the completed ones. It is an out of the box build using the paint scheme and decals provided.

Hope the photo's look ok, it definately helped the time go by being bedridden, hehe

If it jams, force it. If it breaks,

it needed replacing anyway.

That is very impressive! Even more so considering it was while you were in bed! I doubt I could build anything in bed. Very clean build.

I've been eyeballing that kit for some time. If I can ever find it at a good price, I'll probably grab one.

Thanks for the comments guys. At the time of that build my draling was a very understanding lady who also went out of her way to help out. Plus I had the advantage of a very large verandah at the house, so I was able to set up a sick bay/ workshop in the fresh air out fo the house but still under cover.

If it jams, force it. If it breaks,

it needed replacing anyway.

Looks really good...is the Trumpeter kit better than the old 1:25 AMT ALF of many years ago? Go out and get some appropriate-sized shoelaces and fill up that hosebed!

I am working on an older kit of the American LaFrance Aero Chief ladder truck.... I hate the chrome ( paint over red) beacon lights... do you know where I can get some more modern looking beacon "light bar" like you have on this kit?

Beautiful job, love it!

I scored lucky with mine, I was in an Office supply store and I found some ball point pens with clear lids that were nearly the exact shape of the original beacons. With and LED up them and a dab of clear red they came out perfect.

it needed replacing anyway.

Nice build!  Amazing you could do that while bedridden.  I have to confess I'm a bit of a "holdemaniac" myself.  My son is an overseas contractor and last year bought a Pontiac G8 with the 6 liter engine (GT).  He only gets home a few weeks a year so I drive it the most.

The car is pure Ausie Holden except for the badges and nose treatment and is an absolute blast to drive.  In the last year I've managed to put a few Beamers and Jap tuners in their place with it.  You guys sure build good stuff.  Too bad GM killed off Pontiac but we've heard rumours that the Holdens will live on as Chevy Caprice SS's.

Wow now that's a fire truck..!! My son loves fire trucks and he would freak out if he saw this!! Always thought of doing up one of these for him and maybe now is the time!!

Over all build is rock on and the detailing is top notch!! Especially for building this from your bed!! Hope all is well and thank you for sharing

 Flaps up,

 Mike

SSB Resins has fire lights, hoses and other part to help build your truck better, I rebuilt the Eagle into a rescue pumper using their parts and was very happy with the results.

Nice built considering that it wasdone in your sick bed. When I was a little boy, I wanted to be fireman. I think I will build one of these.

SSB Resins.com now has the ALF Trumpiter kits fire hose set out for all hoses for only $30. The part number is HB-006Rand includes bumper side tray and all hose bay hoses for a total of 13 parts. This inludes a nozzle for the trash lline for the bumper line. You can gget helmets for FDNY, turnout coats, pants and boots just got a set today looks great. And most trucks should carry at least one saftey cone and they have sets of 1 to 4 cones. A fast over view can be seen at E-Bay, I got the 2002 Seagrave truck today $400 but very nice in detail and actually worth the high price.
