1968 Plymouth Barracuda

I think MPC was the only one to offer this kit. Since it was re-issued a couple of times, you may find one on E-Bay without paying thru the nose.

There are some fastback Barracuda kits out there. I too once owned one, but it was the sedan style body which I have only seen resin bodies of and missed the chance to pick one up. My Cuda was once a police car...fast!

AMT also sells a 69 fastback kit. Can't actually claim QUALITY kit, but if I squint a bit I can pretend its my long lamented 67 Fastback Formula S.

I'm currently in the process of restoring an old 1968 MPC  Formula S glue bomb.  I'm cannibalizing parts from the repopped MPC/AMT 69 'cuda kit. Once upon a time I was the proud owner of a for real 68 383 4-gear fastback.. I'm hoping to replicate it.

Both these kits are have promo like belly pans with suspention and exhaust molded in. I toyed with the idea of using a Mr Norm's 68 Dart as a donner chassis but decieded that it would be a lot of work for a car that would seldem have its underside checked out.

At one time Perry"s Resins had a conversion kit to back date the 69 kit to a 68, but I don't think he does mail order any more.

Thanks for the info. Didn't realize these cars are so hard to find, as I have been doing planes for a while now.

Here are a couple shots of the rebuilt '68 MPC fastback. Its a good yard car. From a yard away it doesn't look too bad but its not contest quality by any strech oof the imagination. It does closely resemble my first new car.  383 4gear, bucket seats no consul and Cragers.

Modelhaus does a notchback, forget which year.

Not sure how different a 65 is but Monogram made a FB in 1/32 scale.

Here's a '68 Barracuda conversion on eBay. It may end before you get this message, but you may be able to find it re-listed?

Thanks so much for the info! I bid on it last night, hopefully i'll win it. Now to find the correct hood, as that one has 2 holes in it for two carburetor stacks to stick out of the hood. Might just fill the holes and sculpt the two bulges that are on my friends car myself. Thanks again!!!!
