I don't have any but I have seen them. Not 100% sure that they are the R34 (I think that is what he needs) though.

EDIT: Well after linking it looks like a R32 version. I will look a bit more. I like the Skyline, too bad they never came State side :(

Aren't there several kits of skylines that have the added body panels? Perhaps one of those veilside kits will have the body panels he needs.

I never had any success with the decal printing on any type of printer or deal paper. My advice (may be the hardest to do) do carefull masking and carefull airbrushing. Just use low tack masking tape and take your time. I've done splash graphics like this with nice results. The key is to take your time. But as for the NOS, TOYO TIRES, SPARCO and whatnot, I'm sure there are decals available for those. . . somewhere.

Nothing to do with decals but have you come across the English company Scale Auto Style who manufacture resin body panel sets. They do several styles of front grill/bumber, side skirts, bonnets etc for a number of Japanese cars, including the Skyline, if I recall there is someting quite close to the one you are planning. Sorry I don't have any contact information.

If you bought them several years ago, than there is a good chance that they were designed either for colour laser or Micro-Dry printer.
Ink-Jet decal paper didn't come out too long ago.

Bassically here is how it goes:
1.) Design your Decals on PC.
2.) Buy appropriate decal sheet, they come either in transparent or in white for Ink-Jets. You will need the white if your Decals contain white.
3.) Print them
4.) Seal them with the matching coating for the paper (Can or Brush).
5.) Wait 1/2 a day.
6.) Cut decals out and use them.

Check on google for suppliers of Ink-Jet Decal paper, most of the suppliers will also have a quick "how-to-do" section.

When I bought my ALPS there were no sheets for Ink-Jets available.

Alright thanks guys, keep those tips coming in! Anyway, I'll have a look at Hoppy Link Japan and see if I gan get the decals from there, and I might have a look at EL-wire too for the underside neon.

katana2665.

Did you use the fixing spray on the ink-jet decals, without that I believe that they will never work?
Also was the paper rated for the Ink-jet printer?

Originally Decal paper was designed for the ALPS printers and comes in transparent with blue backing paper. ALPS printers can print white and metallics and is automatically water-proof.

You might need to adjust the colours after the scan too, don't print/copy directly from the original.

FYI, I hear printing Decals with an Ink-Jet can be a headache.

I am on a mailing list that specialises in decal printing for my printer, there might be similar lists for ink-jet created decals.

I tried the decal sheets, but the ink just pooled on top of the sheet with my ink jet printer. i then took my graphics to a print shop and had them print it out with their color laser. The result was a faded graphic. the only thing i can do now is apply the decal to the model and carefully paint on top to bring back the original color. I have also been thinking of doing this car. I would mask off the graphics and airbrush the color on. just my .02

If you got access to a PC, Scanner(optional), Graphics Software and a good printer(Laser Micro-Dry recommendet but ink-jet will work too) you can make your own decals.

Also look on Hobby Link Japan for available Decal sets, Modelers and other makers make a set of stripe decals in different thicknesses(both straight and in curves). Simply cut position and you should be set.
Modelers and many others specialise in 1/24 scale generic AM parts and Decals.

Lighting the underside of the Car, best option would be EL-wire or similar. You will need to shop around for it though, I don't have any online sources for it.

Another option could to the of use fiber optics and acrylic sheeting to put the light where you need it.

My New Project - 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GTR
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 7:49 PM
Well, the film was good, but not great, let's be honest. But my god that Skyline GTR is nice. Then I bought a copy of the great Need For Speed: Underground (I enjoy video games) and there it was again. Si I thought it was about time I made a Skyline myself.

Thing is, I want to do it in the style of the one seen in 2 Fast 2 Furious (see pic below...hopefully).

Only one problem really. You can't get the model with thos decals, and you can't buy those decals aftermarket either. The colour and bonnet stripes are fine, as should be any extra internal detailing such as the NOS system, but what about the manufacturer decals on the bonnet and the damn stripe/bar things on the side? Basically, I need a way of making my own decals, or I need to find a way of painting those damn mini-stripe-bar things on the side nice and accurately, which frankly, on a 1/24 scale car, is going to be damn near impossible.

The model I'm hoping to base it on can (hopefully) be seen below. It's a nice-looking Tamiya 1/24 Nissan Skyline GTR. Just the stock version, not the racing version, to keep it ice and accurate to the film (as accurate as possible anyway).

The other thing I might end up doing is trying to source some tiny blue cold cathode tube lights, which with some engineering, I might just be able to fit underneath the side-skirts, and then wire up to a power supply somewhere to give working underside neon lighting. Then again, I don't know if they make cold cathodes small enough., but heck, it's a thought.

So...any ideas how to start this mammoth project...?
