Boy, it feels good to know that this kit made an impression! It really did put me in knots on some nights! The hood alone took me probably six or seven tries to get "right" with that damned line around the blackout?

I'm going to try to get another armor piece done next, so look for me next over in Armor after Christmas!

Very cool build Karl. The added details around the hood and the chin give it the right look. That colour is great, reminds me when I used to have a pair of  cords that colour in 1973!

Yeah, I was wondering if that "tail sitter" stance was a trick of the eyes, or the photo angle when I look at reference photos? But it DOES seem that that's the norm for some reason? In any case, it's pure luck that I got it to sit that way because I had to reposition the wheel mounts to get them centered in the wheel wells--and I didn't plan the stance. So the modeling gods must have smiled on me for some reason!

The MCW paint looks great on it Karl! I like the way you also got it to be a tail sitter. Most of the Mustangs I remember seeing almost always seemed to sit low in the back. Very nice work indeed!

The black on the hood looks like satin and it looks awesome.  plain ol' flat would look alittle awkward against the high gloss

Yeah, that's Tamiya Semi-gloss. The blackout hood is supposed to be "flat", but the actual flat black looks just too "flat". I like the sheen of the semi-black a little better. I think it looks more accurate "to scale".

That is Sweet.  Did you use a flat color for the black on the hood, or is it just a trick of the camera? 

Hi guys, Well--WOW, it's been a busy year, but I've managed to bang this one out FINALLY! It's finished in Model Car World's "Grabber Lime"--I LOVE this color! The decals are Keith Marks, and went on fine except for the hood, which I decided to mask and paint in the correct shape.

I added the passenger window with a piece of styrene strip and some clear plastic cut from a salad container. The wheels are extra's from a '71 GTX kit. The antenna is a guitar string. It was polished with Novus plastic polish.

The hood took me forever to properly mask and paint--the KM decals have more of a "squared" front to the decal that didn't look right to me, so I used some.....uhhh. what is that stuff called......???....it's like a clear roll of adhesive tape with really low tack, and it stretches if you pull it.....yeah, THAT stuff --- I masked the interior first, painted that, then masked OVER the whole hood and cut out the line going around the blackout. It was a pain, but I think it turned out pretty cool...the engine was detailed with some distributor wires and some hoses, and the air cleaner had a "rubber rim" put around it by cutting a shielded wire's shielding off, splitting it down the middle and gluing it around the rim.

That's it for this one! I think it's time to get back to some armor now!

MCW paints have exact matches for both, by the way--I wouldn't use anything else!

That is some fine looking work on the interior Doog! Where do you get those embossing powders? Once I finish off a couple of armors I'm working on I'm thinking of doing an AAR Cuda I have in the stash.

I found my powders at Hobby Lobby, but I'm sure that Michael's or AC Moore's has em too! They're under $10.00, I believe?

Spruce-ce Goose -- thanks for the comments and compliments! This car is one of my favorites, and I'm just trying to do it justice. The kit is pretty rough--I wish they'd do a re-pop, and with proper decals! I'm going to have to mask off that hood and try to get that fine line around the blackout somehow!

Yeah, I've been watching that discussion too........I hope I"m doing my part here in this WIP to show that people with high post counts also are actually still modeling while posting replies to "off topic" threads too... This is the way I'd prefer to see post counts increased!

Hercmech--Thank you also, and great!!-- I'm happy to hear that you've picked up the idea of the powder too! It was a great tip that James of "JTRacing" gave to me, and it's been a BIG improvement to my Auto modeling! Credit where credit's due! You are going to need to upgrade the magnification on your loupe if you continue modifying those very small areas.

I especially like the floor mat and wood grain additions. The sand paper re-cycled as floor mats is an excellent, earth friendly idea .

They make the interior shine ( metaphorically speaking )
