1/25 scale kit from Monogramthe kit looks pretty good . The flash looks minimal and the decals have the wood grain for the sides on the sheet along with some assorted window graffeti. Started dry fitting and have found a mis molded axle end.The frame is were I'm going to start . The crossmember support has some alignment issues. No matter how hard I tried to line up all the little holes it just moved the problem to another location. This is going to create some tedious sanding later,ah well wacha gonna do.I just did the best to minimze it and press on

awsome trey, i cant wait to see more pics. got a color picked out yet?
Thanks SAR ,no I've not decided on a color yet but probably a custom pearl with some sort of graphics. Maybe even a ghost flame. I've started to putty and sand the frame
Here you can see the gaps and poor alignment of the holes in the crossmember support
First application of putty
I used some acetone on a 'Q' tip to smooth it down to minimize sanding.
The frame almost ready for the fiddly bits
ghost flames or pearl huh? you dont do anything the easy way do you i cant wait to see it come together. btw cool way to fix the frame.
Thanks SAR yea I'm always punishing myself needlesly with the complicated paint schemes lol. I fixed up all the fiddly bits and ran some brake lines using copper wire
Frame has a base color now
I think a moon roof is in order so here goes
Finished Mill ready for instal. I added some wiring and tubing
WIP's are a tease.I'll be watching this one.
TD4438 hope the tease is worthy,I'm plugging along with the body. Decided to remove most of the chrome trim to clean up the body and make it less busy. I'm also going to remove the front marker lights and replace them with some smaller units, here one side is done
Next the chome trim,before
after
.
and the Hood before
the finished body is almost ready for paint
nice flathead mill.something you dont see everyday. when you said that you were gonna remove the chrome i was wondering how it would turn out- looks real good. i think it helps focus on the lines of the car as well as the wood inserts. good job
I love what you're doing with it! Removing that chrome was a smart step!
And the motor looks spectacular!
nice job.

Thanks Fellas appreciate your input and taking the time to comment! I had decided to leave out the back seat, hey its a Beach goin machine after all. This also gave me an excuse to scratch some items and have some fun with it.
First a go at a cooler
throw in a few beach towels and we're almost ready, going to add a few more smaller items later, maybe a boogie board, ect
also got the running gear mounted and plumbed
and a little more progress on the body
sweet! im lovin the interior work. cant wait to see this baby done
some assembly required sweet! im lovin the interior work. cant wait to see this baby done
Thanks S.A.R. ! I scratched up some dual exhaust with some old school 'Cherry' bomb mufflers so the underside is a wrap except for weathering.
HA i love cherry bombs! i had one on my 1:1 jeep and boy it got your attention. looks good so far. have you thought about maybe putting some louvers on the hood? i think that would look pretty snazzy.
Thanks S.A.R. .louvres would be cool, but man I can only take so much abuse lol! I had an epic paint failure and had to strip it down and start over. That being said I'm just going with a candy over gold and moving on.
OMFG this gonna be awesome!
OK--'fess up! How the heck did you do that seat covering and the beach blankets?! They look AWESOME!
This really is spectacular, TREY--it's great to see work that so obviously shows the modeler's love of creativity!
HA, i totally understand about not wanting to put yourself through more pain! You definately have a knack for picking colors that complement each other.the candy looks great-no blushing or zebra stripes. good even coverage all around.
TD4438 Thanks !
the doog Thanks very much! It was a super easy fix,I found some patterns on line and printed them out on copy paper then used elmers glue on the towels and ca on the seat . I had to keep burnishing down the seat cover to get the wrinkles out of the corners until the ca set.
S.A.R. Thanks for the compliments on the paint work really appreciate it!
I did get some progress done in spite of having to work ! The dash I kept simple and used some Formula 500 Canopy glue for the gauge lens
I scratched a Hood scoop
Finished the hub caps with MM metalizer stainless then buffed it a bit for a dull beach worn shine
Wrapped up the interior with some dry brushing over the 'wood' grain to give it a little depth
Then a series of dry brushing and pastels to weather the running gear
I am so looking forward to seeing this completed.
This is looking great! Really looking forward to how you do the wood trim.
Ken
Inspiring work, the red is just ..."..................brilliant, love it.
Terry.
TD4438,Ken,Terry, thanks for taking the time to post up the kind words ! I'm closing in on it for sure, finished weathering and got the basic assembly complete
windows masked sprayed and inked
while waiting for some paint to dry I scratched up a longboard
Widows and interior in so all the sub assemblies finally come together!
Frenched the front turn signals and getting the wood grain decals on
'Tis a thing of beauty trey! great finish to a cool kit.
That wood grain really made it pop!
Thanks SAR & TD4438 Here it is first finished build of the year!
