Here we are again. I've been away because of problems fitting the wheels to the axles supplied. The metal axles are too thick so I have tried to scoop out/make larger the hole in the back of the wheels. Although taking away a lot of resin it left the wheels centres weak. When I tried to fit them to the chassis the wheel centres pulled out! I invested in a new aftermarket set of metal rims and tyres with the MIchelin logo already in place. So here are the two old resin rims..........

I really don't want to paint them because of their beautiful surface detail.

I've mounted the front and rear light lenses,and the door mirrors.

Just the exhaust, wipers and tow hooks to go to finish.

PS. 22.14pm I've just looked at Autosport my weekly motorsport comic and they show the Skoda's that will be on the IRC Rally of Ireland this weekend and they are using wheels identical to the metal finished ones I have bought and are shown above

I hopefully will get some more done over the weekend but we have the first of the F1 races of the season in Australia. The televised practice is tomorrow, the qualifying on Saturday and the race on Sunday. I suppose my local team Red Bull will be up front somewhere, I also hope that McLaren make a better go of it this year, and my other local team Sahara Force India with Hulkenberg and David Coulthard's cousin Paul DiResta are in there with a chance.

I know that I should be fixing the brake discs to the rear of the wheels, but as I feel brave today I thought I'd fit the windows instead. Well I can tell you now that the way these are made to fit from the outside, like a real car is the best I've seen in a kit. They come as most screens do in a thin plastic dome and you cut them out round the black windscreen surround with a new sharp blade. Then drop them in place, using your chosen form of adhesive. The rear wing had to be fitted first before the rear screen being the only difference to the others.

Now tomorrow I may well fit the dashboard into the shell and get round to fixing those brake discs into those wheels!

Hi a few more pics..

Firstly the Michelin decals on the tyres although a little close to the rims perhaps............

Next the calipers have been painted red and fixed to the drilled discs.........

And the front end of the chassis/floorpan (sorry a little out of focus) had to be shaved down as the full thickness  was dislodging the radiator mesh in the bottom air intake.

Now the fix the discs inside the wheels with the wide ones to going to the front. The wheels will then be fixed to the axles although we don't want them to turn, so the calipers are at the front  all round.

Hi yes I use Micro-Sol, and I'll have to have another go at that area!

I've been out to the cabin and grabbed the Micro-Sol and given the decal a soak! I've moved the stripe just above the rear door handle, as per the other side and it lays down nicely, thanks for pointing that out. Now just the rear panel to do, plus a few decals on the windows when they are fitted.

Hi, thanks guys,  I'ts a great kit although there are no instructions just a colour picture sheet. Yes the doog, it's different though only 1/43rd scale for a change. I have a few more pics of todays work....

The only rear panel to finish off the decals, except for those on the front and rear screens. The windows although moulded as one need to be cut out around the black frame area and fixed into the body from the front. That should be fun!

Thanks guys. I build both 1/24 and 1/43 scale rally cars. But with the 1/43rd scale builds we have to be a bit more careful because of the size. Yes this one is going well but there are a few things in laying up the decals I could have done differently, but we learn with every build and I've only be at it for 40 years!

Hi, a few more decals were laid up over the weekend. The first are on the roof. The long red and blue decals of  France are a bit brittle and about 1/4 inch too long. I cut them just after laying them up wet, but perhaps should have waited until they had dried..

The second were the bonnet decals. The larger ones along the side of the bonnet needed to but cut around the air-intakes and I did this when they were still dry on the backing paper and it worked....

The last one of the day was the loooooooooong black one along the bottom of the front bodywork. This was always trying to slide underneath, so I had to lift it a little.......

The next one is a red line that goes between the long black one and the bottom air-intake, that should be tricky!

I've shortened one length of belt after weaving through the rollcage and fixed it to the cage with a PE clip, once dry I shall fix the other belt to the cage.

The race number is yet to go onto the black square on the race plate at the top of the door, but we'll let these dry first. Next the spare wheel with the tie-down and the michelin logo on the tyrewall.....

Hi a few more pics, firstly rollcage build up. Remember thet the seatbelts fix to the rearmost section of the cage over the spare wheel. So build the two sides and the two rear sections, put the seats in weave the belts through and attach, then put the top on the cage....

At the front of the car the axle is held between the body and the floorpan but at the rear ther's a slot in the bottom of the floorpan, so I cut a piece of plasticard and glue underneath....

I've just taken the masking off to show the metalic green bottom section of the body, the closest colour I could get was Rover Green . The real colour is Nissan Mica Green but if you have no chassis or registration of a real one Nissan can't supply the colour!
