In 66-67 Ford came off their boycott of NASCAR with a "half-frame" Fairlane that used the front clip from the Galaxy and boxed in sides to build a frame for the uni-body Fairlane. This was to go on to become the basis for the chassis still under today's NASCAR cars. Andretti, an outsider to NASCAR, won the 1967 Daytona 500 in this car.
