Thanks MECHTECH and yes, you are correct. I did not remove the mold lines from the shift handle. The entire shifter had a serious mold line all around it and I was going to remove it, but then I would have to strip the chrome, paint it gloss black and paint it with Alclad II chrome paint. I got lazy and just painted the T-handle aluminium and the boot flat black and then installed it into the interior.
Beautiful job Mike. The only thing that caught my eye out of place is the shift lever knob. it looks like the mold lines did not get touched. Please say it ain't so.
Thank you guys! I've been away from this site for a while and decided to pop my head back in for a look-see.
67 GTX I really liked what you did with the carpet. How did you reverse the spindles?
I really liked what you did with the carpet.
How did you reverse the spindles?
I merely flipped the spindles upside down and installed them.
Man that is sweet. Turned out great!!

Looks mean! awesome build, the kit itself looks like a good one. the engine detail is suprising OOB. i like the seperate front subframe too.... one could easily build a tube chasis for the front to replace it and turn it into a "proStreet" style drag car....
im not meaning to nit pick or take away from your great build, but wasnt the hood on these Mopars usually matte black? just curious because alot of the ones i have seen are... i really like the gloss look for it though, more unigue to have the gunmetal look than the flat black IMHO
Great work!

Nice build Mike. Stance is awsome with the reversed spindles.

Nice work on the duster Mike. It looks great.
I am glad I am not the only 1 that takes months to complete a kit. Their is never enough time.

A few more.
I have finished my '71 Duster 340+6!
I would like to thank all those who took the time to view and to comment on my build!
Since my Duster is 99% complete, I thought I would give you a sneak peak before heading off to bed. Just some touchups and it'll be done! Final pics in the morning.
More to come...
Yesterday, I decided to add some stripes between the taillights ala the 1970 Duster 340. I also added some 340 lettering to the hood scoops and then I cleared the body and hood this morning.
Having dealt with the side windows on my '70 Duster 340 WIP a couple of years ago, I deepened the channel in the side panel.
And, I thinned the edges of the windows...just to be on the safe side. I don't want to take a chance of these windows popping out when I insert the interior and chassis.
Thanks Trey!
I got my decals on last night. Just the hockey stick stripes from Keith Marks.
But, what's this?
It is new kit glass! A BIG THANK YOU to fellow Classic Plastic Model Club member John for the glass.
Yes, I am taking the easy road to finishing my Duster. The glass was freely offered by John and I decided to take it. John is number one in my book!
Nice fix in progress Mike!
Here's is how I went about making new windows. First, I traced the window opening onto a piece of paper and then cut them out.
Then I traced the pattern onto a piece of clear flat bubble packaging using a Sharpie.
I cut out the new windows using a sharp pair of scissors and cut along the outside perimeter of the black line. THis will be my mounting edge.
After checking that the windows will fit properly, I will use 2-part epoxy to mount the new windows.
Good color choice for the interior and the firewall detailing is great, shame about the windshield .Looking forward to the fix Mike!
Well, I was ready to go and install the glass last night and discovered...no glass! I looked all over the shop for it and I couldn't find it. And, I can't for the life of me remember if the glass was in the kit when I bought it. The kit was open when I bought it. So into the parts box I went searching for glass and I found one that will fit the rear window with a little trimming. I couldn't find a windshield so I'll use a sheet of clear acetate and make a windshield and side windows too.
This project is really coming along and I am stoked for getting it finished. I finished the interior this afternoon.
I painted the inboard ends of the taillights as backup lights.
The engine bay is ready for the engine.
I remember those days! In my youth I thought the brightly colored inserts were great, but now that I am older and wiser with a better sense of style, those brightly colored inserts (along with bellbottom jeans and granny glasses) are a thing of the past. Sometimes it doesn't stink to get old.
Too garish??? Back in the day you could actually buy the car w/ the orange inserts. Thankfully, my '70 Challenger RT/SE has the blue cloth inserts on blue vinyl!!
The build is really coming together nicely (pun intended). I agree, the drop spindles give it a really mean look.
