Now, you know that if you had the idea to scratch build this on your own, people would've laughed. But since it's from a kit, perfectly cool. Really though, at first I thought you came up with a clever modification for a regular jeep kit. I had to look it up to find out it's a kit.

It's awesome, waynec! You nailed the look of the brass and the hoses. Never would've guessed they are painted plastic. Weathering must've been a trick too as firetrucks are kept so clean. Looks perfect, Wayne!

Bill.

On the bench:  Lindberg 1/32 scale 1934 Ford Coupe and a few rescue projects.

In queue:  Tamiya 1/35 Quad Tractor or a scratch build project.

thank you. it was at "the crap stage" for the better part of the second half but, as usual, turned out nice. it's an older kit so the plastic is harder and leaves sanding marks, something i am not used to being as concerned about with warwheels. also lots of mold seam scrapping.

some details are in order. the hoses are deck tan with a brown wash. the red bar at the top of the hose real was added to hide the seam. everything was primed and painted with acrylics. undercarraige is burnt umber sludge, guards red for color. the ladders were primed and "painted" with a walnut coptic alcohol pen.

i agree most fire trucks are in excellent shape so no wear marks. didn't flat coat it so the pastels didn't want to stick. will go back over it with weathering powders which may stick better but still only a light dusting.

i seem to do these in fire season. bad fires this year north and south of denver. last year was the same and i took a mechanical mule and converted it to a firefighter. more details in the ARMOR FORUM under MECHANICAL MULE.

I bought that kit over twenty something years ago just to build it as a standard WW2 Jeep. Had the fire jeep parts and the red canvas soft top in the parts bin forever. I eventually bought a new kit with the intent to build it as a fire jeep, but no motivation yet.

Your's looks great.

Wayne, that is a bonafide HOME RUN BUILD!!

I freakin' LOVE IT! Ingenuity, imagination, and perfect execution---that's a slammer!!!

The only thing I'd do is put some "Fire department"-type of insignia or regalia on it somewhere on the rear for some more visual "flair'".

hey doog

thanks. the decals are for post ww2 europe, MONACO, BELGIUM, FRANCE and are really only license plates. that's why there is brass instead of chrome.

i thought of doing it in fire engine lime green and putting homemade decals/signs on the water tank. i have 4 more fire trucks, a B-26 FIREBOMBER and the old revell THE FIREFIGHTER NYPD fireboat. something different from military stuff.

The Fireboat FIREFIGHTER is FDNY - Fire Dept City of New York.   It's NOT the NYPD aka the police department.Huh?
