Very cool!I also built it years ago and had to float the large decal in the rear onto the body.

You're right. But I wasn't old enough to understand anything about the genre, I just thought the cars were neat. I didn't even realise they were modeled after actual show cars. I had no idea about Ed Roth.

My first read of this thread the other morning sent me on a quite pleasant research trip on the Bandit and it's creator. So thanks for that too. Geeked

You're dating yourself Greg, that Rat Fink genre was before my time, and I'm getting old.  It's strange that its not being done anymore.  In the 60's there were all kinds of kits on rods.  They are being reissued, "the Black Widow" is now out.  But I can't think of any new rods being done.

Nice job on the Bandit and thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I'd forgotten about the whole Rat Fink genre.

I had an artistic friend who would put on any of his custom work a "rat fink" and a ladybug.  They were his signature mark.

Thank you all for the compliments.

T.B. I've always assumed your eyes were brown, now I know better.

ranger: Ed Roth was the creator, as can be seen in the top pictures box top.  I used Tamiya Pearl White TS-45 over the white plastic of the kit. The scallops and pinstripes are the decals supplied with the kit.  The kits copyright is 2010, but its a remake of the 60's original.

Did Ed Roth do the "Rat-Fink" stuff? He was a top car customizer in the 50s and 60s. Nice job on the model. Did you use a pearl white paint? Are the scallops and pinstripes decals? Is the kit a remake of the old Revell kit?

I just finished the Beatnik Bandit. Try as I might, the frame warped on me. So I'll just post the ones that don't show it.
