Well, I got the flames on the hood today. I shot 'em a shade darker than the Tamiya X-7 Red base color just to add a subtle effect. I still have to wet sand some of the roughness out before one more clear coat. Here's the hood..............

Image

Here's another view that shows the whole front clip with flames. I was going for a really subtle look going for the "Ghost of Street Demons" look to pay tribute to the Street Demons series of this truck released back in 1983. Just gotta smooth it a little and go for another coat of gloss clear. We're off to the races now. lol

Man! That is looking great so far Joe. The paint job is absolutely stellar and gorgeous. Can't wait to see the flames on. I sure hope it works out the way you want it to. Well done my friend.

No problem there Greg! Big Smile

So far so good here. It's been a bit since my last update but I've been painting body parts now for the last two weeks. Here's a quick test fit. I need to raise the front end just a tad but I'm likin' it so far. Flames came in last night so I hope to get started on that pretty quick.

Oh Yeah, The paint looks fabulous Joe. Excellent work getting it just right. The pickup looks great all mocked up with the grill. I'm pretty darn excited to see you get the flames on. I have all the confidence in the world that you will nail that part of the paint job. Flat out awesome Joe. I'm lovin' it.

kpnuts: Give it a try. Just plan it all out in your head. The internet is endless on resources and parts. You'll have a total blast if you take your time.

Joe: Thanks good buddy! Wink

Stone Dude:This kit is terrible make no mistake! Careful planning and test fit are parmount in putting this kit together. Thanks for the comments.

TankerBuilder: Yes I had to use a mag with a Cobra. lol Cool

Jim Barton: Thanks for the good comments!

I just wasn't feelin' the paint job from earlier so in the brake fluid it went to strip everything and started the whole process over again only this time the paint came out smoother and I actually made it to the clear coat this time around Here it is with the paint and the clear. I still have to apply the flames (which I ordered an adhesive template today from Australia) and clear it again. Then it'll be down to polishing and buffing out the clear. We're gettin' there folks!
Here's a mock up with the grille just stuck in place:
