For a high shine finish, you will want the metallic to go on a smooth surface; so yeah, polish the heck outta that paint!

Gloss black is the base coat of choice

Now that I'm here, where am I??

Spray testers gloss white and after two hours rub gently SN'J aluminum powder .it will then blind you of a shine.

I usually skip the polish on the paint until after BMF. Somehow the film the polish leaves doesn't give the BMF a strong base to adhere to. At least that's been my experience.

You can polish the paint.I.P.M.S. Will not bother you do that.Polishing the testers brand of enamels works best. You can polish the flat enamels to attain a helpful results.A well applied enamel flat paint polished up will work.(Warning)::When using alclad or extreme metal paints.;Spray very light misty coats to eventually get the desired results. What I do is polish the paint or primer flat or gloss ,then spray Tamiya  TS-30 right out of the spray can.Polish lightly the Ts-30 Silver Leaf after an hour.Let dry four three moe hours. After that time you can use testors metalizers for the panel effect.Seal w/alclad gloss or like I use non- spar gloss or semi gloss varnish. There is no match to beat this system.Even "Foil"can't come close.SN'j metal powder can also be polished in the polished paint.Aluminium powder which in these days is rare to get.I was snare because I purchased about 100 aluminum and assortment of copper , gold powders as well.Good luck.Remember ;Take my advice.
