Buddy Baker Tribute modified

Presenting a tribute to the late Buddy Baker who just passed recently. He was my favorite driver when Dad used to take me up to Pocono Raceway for the Purolator 500 NASCAR races in the 70s. I had a red, white, and blue "RC Cola" jacket with race patches all over it, and wore it until it literally frayed into rags. I tried three different times to get the decals to fit on a very old, very difficult-to-build Ford Torino model like the original car, but they were both too short and too stiff to fit over the complex curves of the Torino hood, used here in a cut-down form for this model. They just crumpled and creased and looked like crap every time, and I couldn't match the blue shade no matter how I tried. But I really wanted to resurrect this car in some fashion, so I hit on the idea of doing a sprint car with "tribute" colors, or maybe one that Buddy might've driven after his NASCAR career. I got an autographed card off eBay to complete the presentation. I think it came out pretty cool. Rest in Peace to the Gentle Giant, Buddy Baker 1941-2015.

This is the AMT "Vega Modified" kit with a Ford Torino cut-down hood from the POlar Lights kit.
