SE Finecast MG TF finished

This one took me 10 months to build.  It was my first white metal kit, and it nearly defeated me.  I'll be giving it to my dad as his Christmas present.  I wanted to detail it more, but as it is, I finished in the nick of time--last night!  The kit is from Finecast in the UK, as are the wire wheels.

That's beautiful. What scale? Full detail?

It's 1/24.  The kit is a fairly basic curbside model.  The wire wheels are sold separately, but are a lot better than the stock steel wheels that come with the kit.  Oddly enough, the wheels were the easiest part of the kit to build.  There was a lot of sanding, cutting, and shaping of the various white metal parts involved in putting the model together.  I primed it with Alclad gray primer and used automotive paint for the British Racing Green paint.  My first coat was with a rattle can, and that went horribly--I got runs and bubbles in the paint and many hard-to-reach areas were still devoid of paint.  I then decanted the paint and used a mini spray gun (an Iwata LPH-50) and that was a far better experience.  Many of the chrome details you see are polished white metal parts--I think I used of a box of sanding sticks on this project.

I would have liked to detail the interior some more, but ran out of time.  As it is, I made the side pockets from lead foil.  I also got the MG logos from leftover decals and photoetch from a Fujimi MGB kit.  The headlight lenses came from a Monogram MG TC kit--they were a near-perfect match and looked far better than the flat plastic disks the kit came with.

It's a tribute to your modelling skills that it doesn't look as if it was a struggle. Beautiful, clean work.

Beautiful!

I was familiar with their wire wheels- did not know they made complete car kits.  Their wheels have always been fantastic. I wish some US company would pick up their line of wheels.

Thanks, guys! I agree--the wheels look great. Finecast has done a good job with them. I guess they've put more effort into those because they sell more of them than the kits.

That's gorgeous! It actually looks like a diecast car!
