Realistic carpet for cars

   For rubber flooring (1960s and older and truck) I stipple black paint mixed with flat " Rubber " color 50 - 50 . For carpeted floors I use embossing powder , flocking and talcum powder . Yup , plain old talc !  It makes a fine worn looking floor ! And it's paintable too !  T.B.

I've used really fine ballast from Woodland scenics. Ground it up a bit more and then painted it.

Cheaper than the small $5 containers of flock from the hobby shop.

i've been using the embossing powder for like a decade now also, its the best product hands down.

you just need to buy it in white and black, paint the white any color you want.

Flocking looks unrealistic, unless you're looking to simulate something like plush carpeting used in a hot rod or pimp car; much better to get some embossing powder from your local Michael's or AC Moore's hobby chain and use that. Just spread some white glue down with a paint brush and sprinkle it on. It looks killer.

Embossing powder is similar, but finer and also comes in colors, but unlike flocking, can be painted. Michaels Carry's it.

Flocking is basically a fine "fuzz".  Apply a thin coat of white glue to the floor, dump it in on top, shake around to cover all the glue and dump the excess back out.  Instant carpet.

Look for it in the railroad section of hobby shops or in fabric stores.
