VW midget
Posted by Don Stauffer on Thursday, June 9, 2016 4:21 PM

Making progress with my VW midget race car.  Here are a couple of pix.

I used the VW engine from the AMT Meyers Manx, with scratch magneto and aftermarket (Aardvark) carburetors.  The frame uses the frame from the Revell KK midget kit, but builds up a space frame and roll cage on it.

The wheels and tires, depicting a 70s vintage car, must be much wider than the Revell kit wheels and tires, which are for the 40s and 50s.  I chucked up the kit wheels and turned the rims off, replacing them with rims made from 1/2 inch styrene tubing.  I will be scratching the tires from MDF board.  I will also be using the tail from the Revell kit- the rest of the body will be scratch.  I am also using the kit rear center section with scratch axle.

Very cool!

Whoa! That's really cool Don. I'm anxious to see how this comes out.
