Sorry guys but I started this before I got the camera .So I'm about 80% done.

Still have to get the frame straightened out  and some other stuff added but heres what I have so far.....

Please excuse the dust in some of the pictures. It was windy outside.

Got the sparkplug wires mounted to the valve covers. I drilled out the holes and glued the wires in from the underside of the valve covers. These pictures are of my second attempt. The first try I used a closer to scale gauge wire that looked like crap.

The kit supplied distributor wasnt going to work for this so I used a short piece of Evergreen  tubing to "shove" the wires through.

I also decided the kit supplied blower was a bit to big. (A different scale ?) So I switched to the kits Injector stacks. Now the "coolness" factor is at  11 .

I will post more pic's later today.

Got the fuel tank painted. I will be painting the brackets aluminium.

Velocity stacks assembled.

OOPPS!   My photography skills need some work. I'm used to using actual film. Darn this new-fangeled tecnology!

Also mannaged to straighten out the frame. (One front wheel was off the ground ) and installed the Radious rods,Tierod ,Drag-link.

I thought the firewall was kind of bland so I added some chrome trim.

Can't decide if I shoult dress up the rest of the trim in chrome. I'm open to suggestions.

So I got the decals on the tank ( Moon-Eyes of course ) .... then Glosscoted.....then masked the tank so I could paint the brackets Aluminium..............Then had to strip the paint back down to bare plastic.    BUMMER!!!

I forgot to burnish the tape down, so of course the paint bled under the tape !

Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!

I'm not taking any chances this time.

I'm prepping 4 tank's this time ... first one to make it through paint wins!

And here it is.

I also started on the driver. not sure if I will use him or not.

It must be THE 60's..... The only safety.equippment he has is boots and gloves.

He still need's some shading and some grime. After all he is also the mechanic.

Geez;

Did you have to remind me ? It was definitely more fun modeling and R.V'ing ! The scenery almost overcomes the attention needed to look at the build . Good job so far ! T.B.

The kit didnt come with a fuel pump, so I made my own out of bits in my junkyard.

Apparently my $25 camera cant zoom in that small. Sorry.

I also did some work on the driver.

I could'nt leave his shirt blank so I came up with a logo I thought was period correct.

I just "love" however, that everything is in focus......EXEPT the driver.   Darn!

Hard to see but the tank is decaled and gloss-coted.    now..... lets see if I can pull off the silver tank straps.

So..... yesterday I "Stripped" the fuel tank ..... AGAIN !

This will be the FIFTH ATTEMPT to get a "usable" tank  .... ARGGGGG !!!   Also managed some more painting on the driver figure, and got part of the Magnito done.

I will update this with picture's sometime  Sunday afternoon..... ( will most likely be a picture of me "STOMPING" on the fuel tank ! )

Looking good!  Love the STP t-shirt on the driver.

And sporting the hemi!  BTW one tip I saw was to strip the black insulation from a slightly larger diameter wire, cut to length (1/8 - /16") and slide over your plug wires for the boot.

Thanks,

John

Hey Tim, I found ya. Subscribed now.

This looks pretty cool. And yeah... I like the scenery. Now that I don't have a cat to worry about, I am thinking road trip this spring. Not sure where yet.

Looks good Tim.

I have tried that before... with "mediocre" result's. I usually just paint the "boot end's" by hand. ( It alway's work's better for me that way. I also can't seem to mask a canopy to save my life, so I freehand them too. )

Got the wire's installed in the Magnito and also added some part's to the Mag as well.

I used 2 different size's of Plastistruct for the main body of the Magnito, and a strip of plastistruct for the electrical box on the side.

Still have to "make" some wire loom's for the plug wire's, and get a decal on the electrical box, but the hard part is done.

Or is it ???  The driver has some very "Over exaggerated" detail on him ... and I fought it a bit today. This is where I'm at with him so far ...

The shirt is soooooo thick it kinda look's like he's wearing a "bulky sweater" !

The goggle's also make him look like An "Alien bug invader". I plan on "tinting" the goggles Transparent Blue.

Good idea painting the boots!

Head looks great in that old school bell helmet.  I still have one.  Be cool to find a bell decal for it.

Thanks,

John

                               Got one !

Gonna wait till last to put it on. ( I dont want a repeat of what I went through with the fuel tank ..... I almost used up my supply of "Moon Eyes"  decal's , .... what with stripping that tank 4 time's and all ...)

We bought 5 acres in the middle of nowhere ( 5 miles outside Douglas AZ. 6 mile's to Mexico ) Were working on getting the other 6 lot's around us.

( Apparently, my wife "Need's" cow's . )

Well.... Here's the fuel tank ...... AGAIN....

I'm almost afraid to un-mask it. This will be my fifth attempt to get the strap's right, and if I mess it up THIS TIME ..... I'm going to change hobby's ! ( I have heard good thing's about  Alligator wrestling ..... maybe I'll be good at that.)

Got the decal's on the Magneto. They came from my "Stash" of 10,000 and 1 that I have been "hoarding" for year's, so of course they shattered on impact ! ( I pieced them together ok, but their a bit "tattered" along the edges.)

Nothing a good thick wash of Black can't fix !

And also got the driver's goggle's tinted...... now he " REALLY " look's like he's from outerspace !

Got one of the fuel line's done too.

I made it from some Brass wire I had laying around. I wanted to use music wire ( its Silver so I wouldn't have to paint it) But it's been "coiled" up for so long it wouldnt straghten out quite right .... but the Brass bend's to shape a lot easyer anyways..... ( Ok.... I'll admit it.....Im lazy and the Brass is "forgiving" of stupid Idiot mistake's ! )

Hey Tim... you are doing nice work here. I like that magneto decal. That sure gives it a sence of realism. Nice fuel lines too.

I am confused about the tank. I am probably missing the obvious but are the straps painted chrome? Or did it come chrome and you masked it?

Goggle-Man is looking good too. Love the STP emblem. STP stickers were the rage back then. We'd stick them to everything.

You and Max are going to have to go head to head when they are both done.....Betting the hemi takes him in the first 1/8 mile, then going to be tight at the line.    Turbines take awhile to get spun up.

Looks great.  Almost looks like you gave up on the tank straps and went to BMF

I used a Molotov Chrome pen. 1 mm tip.

Yea but, He's got a much bigger fuel tank..... My tank is only 10 gallon's ...... He goes through that much fuel just turning the key to the "ON" position ! ( In the 1/4 mile I "might" be ok.... but on the Salt Flat's, He's THE MAN !

The tank was Chrome plated. But I wanted the tank  to mach the car, and just the tank strap's to be Chrome.

A "Mildly" interesting fact about the tank, It came from my OLD  OLD  OLD  AMT 32 Vicky kit. The Chrome was peeling off ( what do you expect from a 45 or 50 year old kit ) so I De- Chromed it and painted it  Testor's  MM Honduras Maroon lacquer. ( Same color as the car.) The tank that came with the Slingster kit Sucked !!!

OK.

I fixed all the broken picture link's.

And, I decided that I needed a vehicle to haul the Slingster from Dragstrip, to Dragstrip. So here is what I have so far....

AMT 65 Chevelle Wagon.

More up-date's soon...... ( as soon as the wife tell's me I'm done installing sewer pipe in the new house ...)
