Greg, I swear I heard him laughing at me when I did something stupid and screwed up, lol.  He did car models when I was a kid.  Sadly none of them survived.  I guess he tossed them at some point.  Maybe when he started collecting diecast models instead.  I kept a few of those.  Thanks!

Really great build, and another awesome project!

Some years back, I did the same sort of thing with building my late Dad's old Impala convertible. At times it was like I could feel him peering over my shoulder...to make sure I got every detail just right. Great fun, and a personal connection it's hard to describe.

It took far too long for me to get around to making a display case, lol.  In my defense it was in a temporary protective shelter. 

I painted the piece of wood to kind of resemble the street.

mustang1989, building this care actually had me going out and looking at my car!  I thought I knew my car inside and out, but when it came down to the small details I just couldn't remember!  It's been quite a few years since I've driven too, lol.  She was in storage for a while.

littletimmy, I would have never thought of that.  I will take a look around.  I have a few pet stores near me.  Lol, this hobby calls for thinking out of the box and seeing ways of using other things other than in their original purpose.

Mark, Thank you!  I looked into getting a plexiglass sheet from Home Depot and making a case myself.  Not sure of any glass shops around me, but that is another option I can look into.

Nicely done and a fine tribute to your dad, most worthwhile. You may want to investigate glass shops in your area, you can get 1/8" plexiglass from most of them for a fairly reasonable rate. Ask if they will precut it for you and if they will a display case will be a snap to assemble

That turned out great.  It is especially nice to see the photos of the original full-size car along with those of your build. 

I have occasionally found display cases at... of all places..... pet store's. 

The aquarium's  that you find at places that specifically cater to fish enthusiest's come in many size's. The average 10 gallon size can be had for under $20.

I seem to recall getting a small beta tank ( 18 in. x8 in. x8in. ) for around $15.

Get a wood base slightly larger than the outside diameter of the tank and just flip the tank upside down. Bingo ! Instant display case.

I went hunting for a display case today, and I didn't have much luck.  The one they sell at Hobby Lobby is about a quarter inch too short to fit the car.  I thought about using a clear plastic storage container, but I would of had to go way oversized with needing 15 1/2 inch length.  So I had to improvise a little bit for now.  I'll get to making something in the future, but with 2 dogs and 2 cats in the house the dust accumulates fast, and I'm not having that with this car.  I will land up breaking bits off.  I do it just about every time I dust all the planes. 

Nicely done Keyda, you dad is smiling down on it and you right now.  Don't be suprised if you see some "ashy" fingerprints on the steering wheel and driver's seat, from him taking it out for a midnight spin.
