I don't know what issues you're having but one can only guess that it has to do with the amount of BMF that has to be used on one of these things. I don't think I've ever built a model that had as much chrome as one of these cars does. Hang in there pal and looking forward to updates when you can.

Warning!

BMF that has sat in sunlight a lot doesn,t work well. With all the great work you have here go for some New foil!.

looks great. The color scheme is of that era. For those who are interested the tri-power set up was offered by the factory by both Chevy and Pontiac, in that era, as an option. My one cousin had a 1958 Chevy with the 348 with tri-power that was ordered with that option. The two tone pastel colors were the rage at that time, as were wide white wall tires.

What a beauty!  Coming along great - and fun exercise in colors I'd suppose!  I have to try one of these two tone classics.

Thanks,

John

This is a really enjoyable post. I love watching the model being built and I love the comments regarding the real car. Last Summer I was waiting at a stoplight and a 59 Chevy floated along on the cross street. I'm not kidding, it appeared to float as it moved. Those beautiful fins, beautifil cat's eye tail lights, and those weird nostrils above the front grill.

Just a word of caution. I built one of those models a few years ago and I installed the chrome nostril grills upside down. It's easy to do.

Your comments and questions are always welcome.

Your paint job on the seats made me sit up and take notice, that's for sure.

Hey!

I got to thinking. Do you have another one?

I saw a custom once. Looked dead stone stock till you saw it from the side! The owner extended the fenders around the Connie. In other words it sat in a Notch between the fins. Looked about a mile long( Think the 59 Caddy Series 62)

Also had some kind of running lights in the stock eyebrows up front

Hi;

I thought the 59 was gorgeous , but , then it tried to fly. Hmmm, 348 was nothing but massive. First time I tried to work on the one in my 58 was a No-No! It was stuffed in there.

You have indeed chosen a not often seen color pairing. Great job!

Beautiful choice on finish. The way they should have looked. The "W Block" was a real stump puller. Lots of torque, but they didn't like to go beyond 6 grand. I think we shifted those between 5 & 5500. Think 409 w/2 fours, or better yet 425hp 427 in 64. I think they stopped in 65, as 66 was the first "Mystery" engine if memory serves. PaulE

My first was a used 59 Plymouth Belvidere push button. I'm guessing that tri power was from the factory?

A number Army Viet Nam scans from hundreds yet to be done:

Have had the great fortune to be on every side of the howitzers.

The 348 was a truck engine. Chevy used it in 58, 59, and 60. You dont see many with the tri-power set up today. I had a friend whos father was an over the road salesman and he had a 59. He complained about the lift by the rear fins at highway speeds. Looks graet so far. are you going for a two tone paint scheme?
