1/20 Revival Mercedes

Thanks again everyone.... Even though I normally build for myself and own satisfaction, it is always nice to receive positive feedback from my peers in the modeling community. Looking at what many of you have created with near professional results makes your positive comments even more satisfying,... thanks again!

 I have to tell you , You did an awesome Job ! ! That car looks ready to race !

Wow!! And I do mean me some Wow!! I don't build these kinds of cars but I do know a good build when I see one.

TB, I tried the Customer Service for Revival but never received a response. What I ended up doing was cutting the tires at the tread in half and using superglue carefully pieced the tires back together around the metal inner-liner which is part of the wheel. Then I filled and sanded the imperfections. Last was a coat of acrylic flat black over the tire to hide the filler and seams. 

Don, As long as you have a good set of files and patience, you can do it.

John, YES... only the bodies come pre-painted. Some of them, like this one, had to be stripped-fixed-and repainted. Make sure you have a good set of files as most everything else is cast metal and has many seams to fix.

 If three of the four tyres were dry rotted and falling to pieces , How did you fix them ? Customer service ? T.B.  P.S. -- By the way , That is one of my more favorite Mercedes cars .

I have that kit, and indeed friends have been telling me bad things about it.  So I have delayed giving it a place in my queue.  However, the great results with yours has me planning to find a place in the queue.

Just looked at their site and I love the subjects.  So are these like Pocher kits?  Is the body the only prepainted parts?

Fox: The paint used on the body was Testors Model Master German Silver Metallic. Three coats from a rattle can, polished and then a clear coat of future acrylic after decaling.

They are kit wheels and tires. While some of the Revival kits fall together very well, some of them do not. This one was a poor fitting model. If you never built one, don’t let me or anyone else talk you out of it. They are nice once they are done, some just require more effort than others.

Really good looking model.  I've never built a Revival kit, but have heard plenty of negative things about them.  Detail looks good.  Are those wheels from the kit or aftermarket?
