Thanks guys, I appreciate the great comments. I enjoyed doing this one. It was nice to do a car again. It's been so long I had to dust off some cobbwebs. I'm pretty pleased with it overall. The next one will be better.
I really like the paint on this car Brandon!! Very nice turn out bud.

Very nice, a classic with a touch of Hot-ness.

Building the perfect model---just not quite yet
keavdogDid the heater hoses come with the kit?
Correct, they did not.
All the wiring and hoses are solid copper core wires. Most of them I got from Lex's scale models. The stuff he sells is enough to do 3-4 cars and he sells resin hoods. Check him out. http://lexsscalemodeling1.bravehost.com/index.html
Thanks for all the kind words Gents,
Very cool. Did the heater hoses come with the kit? I assume no. What did you use to make them? Battery cables are a nice touch as well!
Had it not been placed on carpet, I would have thought it was the real car !
That paint really set's it off. Nice job !
The dashboard is also a wonder to behold. Wish I could still paint a Speedometer ... ( I "twitch" too much these day's . )
Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"
Great paint job!! I love the thin gold stripe.
Your comments and questions are always welcome.
I was waiting for the bits I need for the 4x4 project and I also needed a break from building my Kingfisher so I popped out this kit that's been sitting in the stash now for several years. My son started it, but lost interest as it's not a video game. I began by stripping it to bare plastic in brake fluid and Purple Power.
I painted it with Createx Black Pearl, Gold and Transparent Deep Red. Krylon acrylic clear, 4 coats, then cut and buffed with Micro Mesh. The rest of the paints were a mix of MM and Tamiya. I used bare metal foil for the first time on this one as well. This is the first car I've built in over 32 years, so I'm a tad rusty. Overall, I am pretty pleased with it. I know I can do better and I will with each successive build.
Now to complete that Kingfisher and get rolling hard on the GMC 4x4 as I have most of the bits I was waiting for.
I hope you enjoy the pics.
