This is the Galaxie 1/25 kit of a very cool post-war streamline design. This kit is beautifully molded and the body seems very accurate to my eyes. The base paints are Lake Como Blue and Dove Grey, colors mixed by Jameson at Scalefinishes and clear coated with Tamiya TS-13. The 235 CI straight 6 “Stovebolt” is a work of art, probably the best 1/25 auto engine model out there IMO. I deviated from instructions in pre-bonding the front fenders to the main body before painting and assembly and assembled the interior directly to the body instead of pre-mounting it to the chassis. I had to cut the steering column to attach the interior to body and I had a lot of problems getting the chassis to fit within the body as well as installing both front and rear bumpers. The fit of the hood to body is far from perfect but I decided not to try to reduce the gaps with sheet stock/ putty/ blending (sometimes OOB is good enough!). This build was a tough one for me. Windshield wipers are still off because I’m not crazy about the chrome mounting blocks - they look way out of scale to me. I’d be interested if anyone else who’s built this kit may have reduced the size of these blocks or made smaller ones, I welcome any/all suggestions.
I give Galaxie a lot of credit for tooling these late ‘40’s Chevies, they are beautiful designs. I wish they could produce models of some of the other GM designs from these years (a ‘47 Caddie Series 62 fastback would be sweet).

I will have to get one of these kits! My dad bought his dad's 1948 Chevy four door sedan for my mom when I was a kid. That '48 was the first car I ever drove. Just a great build. Very nostalgic.

There is a youtube video on this kit, it's maybe 17 minutes or so long. But you can see some of the things that need a little attention in the kit. The op here did a good job of correcting those, cleaning mold lines and bringing out panel lines like trunk.
Yeh, I think I watched that video but I still made a number of mistakes even after test fitting copiously throughout the build. This Galaxie Kit (all injection molded plastic, no resin) is not for beginners.
I cut down the size of the two windshield wiper blocks and they look much more to scale IMO relative to 1:1 car photos I found on the web - glad I made this change. original block size:

They are injection molded plastic kits.
