Nice save on that kit. I would have been screaming to the manufacturer over that hot mess.

Oddly enough, I traded a good GTO body for this! HAHA Another builder needed one, and I knew what I wanted to do with this, and I had a couple kits in the stash, sooooo......

Here's the final mock-up before paint, including a continentl spare I found in the parts bin:

After applying Model Master Turquoise and some clear, I ended up with this:

Here it is, behind and older build-up of the same kit, which is due for a rebuild:

I may redo the red one in the same turquoise color.

Thanks for looking in, and I hope you like the results of dealing with a messed up kit part!

Wow what a disaster!  Imagine having that in the stash for years and finally opening it up to build and finding that!?  I dig your idea.  I was going to suggest making a derby car out of it.  Lol

Thanks,

John

LOL, great idea

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

What do ya do when ya get one out of the box and it looks like this?

Here it is, lined up with an older issue of the same kit:

Something happened to it as it came out of the mold, I suspect:

Soooooooo.......I whacked it in half:

Cut the chassis up, too:

I decided to take off the molded in stuff with the ol' Dremel:

Here it is without that junk:

I filled in the gaps with sheet stock:

Added a brace to the body:

I used my trusty clamps to attach the pieces to the body:

I scratched out a tongue:

Fixed up some Keystones and redlines:

After a bit of fiddlin', and scratchin', I got it to this point:

Stay tuned for more!!
