Actually, I used 2 cars as the base. A 1949 mercury for the front and a 1951 Chevy Fleetline for the rear. as you'll see in the pic's.

Starting to cut the "51 Chevy.

Sliding the2 halves together to check for fit. I will then add plastic scrap pieces to fill in the gaps and anywhere else shape needs to be added.

I got the grill/bumper 2 piece set from Modelhaus 5 or 6 years ago. I actually bought 2 sets. One for another project to come. They are a 2 piece set.

This body style is one of my favorite of the '50s.

Front and rear windshield opening and moldings are different than the Chevy, and the rear of the fenders get a "slight adjustment" from stock with more filler and shaping.

The hood, windshield, and wheel openings all got the filler treatment.

I LOVE THIS GRILL/BUMPER combo .

The rear Cadillac bumper is cool too.

Wheel openings, and front and rear windows done as well as rear fenders.

Last pics in primer show from finish work needed, but getting much closer to paint.

Great job! I love the 1950 Buick. My dad had a 1950 Buick Super four door when I was a kid. The Super was between the Special and the Roadmaster. It had a straight eight cylinder engine. I have vivid memories of the huge grill 'teeth".

That's simply awesome !!! Especially since I'm a sucker for old Buicks and Oldsmobiles. Nobody ever kitted these cars up that I know of. I'd love a 56-57 Buick and Olds kit, a 38 Buick, a 40 Olds for instance. Your skills are beyond what I would likely attempt, looks great ! There is a 50 Olds out there I may tangle with one day.

And the only resin kit I knew of is a 55 and I don't recall the manufacturer. I'd actually really like a 56 or 57 but 55 would be ok. Ever since I was a kid and 56 Buicks were around in plenty I've liked the 56 and 57 though. I did build a 58 when I was a kid, AMT I believe.

Most of the cars you mentioned are available from time to time on Ebay, in resin kit form.

Resin bodies and kits are pretty popular right now, so depending what you want, the competition can be pretty intense, and the prices a little surprising for the most popular.

If you decide to check Ebay out and find something you like, make sure to click on the pics to expand them to a larger size and check the quality of the mastering and the casting.

Some can be much nicer than others.

     Sometime back I acquired some Cars from a stash. They were the following, A 57 Caddy Eldo Convertible, A 56 Chrysler New Yorker,and a 55 Ford Sunliner convertible.The two I had hoped would be there was the 56 Mercury " Turnpike Cruiser" and the 56 Buick Roadmaster hardtop Coupe. No such luck on the last two in years.

Honestly I don't know if anyone ever kitted or even molded resin bodies alone the 56 Buick model year.

I have seen several in just the last few months. Some come with Chrome bumpers and other chrome pieces, and some come with raw resin pieces un-chromed.

I have more than enough to build for a lifetime like many others here, but it's fun to peruse and keep up with all the new resin releases.

The temptation is always there, but I have no more room.

The yellow has 1 coat of clear, and the entire car will get 3 more coats and be rubbed out. 

It needs some clear coat, but I like it so far .

 You are doing a great job. I liked it in the White over Yellow too! That old BUICK WaterFall Grille is killer! Excuse Me? Is that a 57 Country Squire I espy in the Background?

Your "putty throwing" skills are incredible! I totally love the look you've achieved of an '50's "torpedo sedanette". The body looks perfect with that grille. 

What is the red putty that you use? It appears to do a great job of smoothing everything out.

The red filler I use is made by EVERCOAT, a manufacturer of automotive finishing products, and is a lacquer-based product called EVER-GlAZE & Spot putty.

It has very little to no shrink, depending on how thick you apply it.

I've tried other similar products, but this works the best for me.
