Back to the bench

Now that is awesome! The creativity to come up with the idea is impressive, the ability to execute that idea so well is VERY impressive.

Seems like Dennis Gage should be interviewing you standing by that car at a rod show somwhere on main street USASmile

That's real nice of you. THANK YOU.

I've been blessed to be an artist all my life and an intense car guy that was blessed to have the skill to build some fun 1 to 1 street rods and customs, as well as be rewarded for some years, for enjoying this hobby - my 15 minutes of fame like so many have had, and love to look back on as well as forward, on some new projects for the future.

What a blessing to have been gifted with such a wonderful hobby Yes.

I'm a Lakewood boy, grew up there from '53 to '71, remember hearing the drag racers at Lions from my bedroom window on Sat. nights. My big bro inherited the family '52 Chev, lowered it and use to cruize Bellflower and Whittier Blvd (Harvey's Broiler). George Barris, Larry Watson, Ed Roth, Mickey Thompson, Tony Nancy, Tommy Ivo, Don Prudommne, Tom McEwen....amazing how many "show & go" pioneers started out on our childhood streets and strips. First cars for me were both shoebox Chevies, a '56 210 for $450 and later a '55 Bel Air for $265.....those were some good old times that we were both lucky to pass our childhood years thru!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOUR POST.

We did the Sunset Strip and Big Boy Burgers, but mostly E Street and the original McDonalds Burgers in BERDOO, and of course WOLFMAN JACK - AHHOOOOYes

What a time to be young and CRAZY - LOVED IT !!!

Gorgeous finish! Ready for the 2022 Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona (we hope it happens!) where it should win a trophy or two! Just need to blow it up 25X....John

Love the Pomona area. I grew up not too far away and got me some awards back in the Day at a few model car contests.

Bought me a 1957 Pontiac Safari wagon in Pomona back in the '70s, and joined the L.A. Nomad Club.

Fun days.

Great memories.

The '50s and '60s were great in SoCal.

Ay

I guess we'll have to change the slogan to-" When Better Buicks are built Treehugger Dave will build them!" Where did my 57 Country Squire in the background go?

Dave yer drivin me nuts. I love that Buick, how much is the postage to send it to me? I mean heck, you got so many beautimus cars you won't miss one, would you?

I like the touch of the Metallic flake on the black. She's awesome! And Dagmars on the back too?

I have only a little over 150 like this, so I don't think I could spare one, as they are all my favorites Yes.

Thanks Dave. I found a tube listed on Amazon for $22, a one-part putty. Is this the stuff? Much thanks, John

What is the red putty that you use? It appears to do a great job of smoothing everything out.

]Quote]

The red filler I use is made by EVERCOAT, a manufacturer of automotive finishing products, and is a lacquer-based product called EVER-GlAZE & Spot putty.

It has very little to no shrink, depending on how thick you apply it.

I've tried other similar products, but this works the best for me.

Good luck

Dave

Your "putty throwing" skills are incredible! I totally love the look you've achieved of an '50's "torpedo sedanette". The body looks perfect with that grille.

Still a little tape.

 .

The yellow has 1 coat of clear, and the entire car will get 3 more coats and be rubbed out.

Honestly I don't know if anyone ever kitted or even molded resin bodies alone the 56 Buick model year.

I have seen several in just the last few months. Some come with Chrome bumpers and other chrome pieces, and some come with raw resin pieces un-chromed.

I have more than enough to build for a lifetime like many others here, but it's fun to peruse and keep up with all the new resin releases.

The temptation is always there, but I have no more room.

Aha;

Sometime back I acquired some Cars from a stash. They were the following, A 57 Caddy Eldo Convertible, A 56 Chrysler New Yorker, and a 55 Ford Sunliner convertible. The two I had hoped would be there was the 56 Mercury " Turnpike Cruiser" and the 56 Buick Roadmaster hardtop Coupe. No such luck on the last two in years.
