I use Instant Tac. I think it is also called 'Tac It' and 'Poster Tac' (and probably goes by several other names as well). It's a tacky putty used for sticking posters to walls. I roll a small ball and stick it to my painting surface. Then stick the part to the putty at the attachment point.

All the above plus a pair of fine needle point pliers.

With parts like mirrors, or something else that has a small attachment point, I will glue the piece to a length of styrene rod. Depending on the size and/or strength of the part I will use super glue (for a stronger piece) or liquid cement (for a piece more likely to break). If I think the part has a really high chance of being broken, I will use microscale's Micro Liquitape.

Mounting parts for painting.

Wondering what other folks use to mount tiny parts for painting. When spraying small parts like side mirrors or fenders I have used everything from double sided tape, to soft mounting tape, to a tiny drop of CA placed in the location where the part will eventually be mounted to the model. Cleanup of the part's mounting area is always a pain after paint is dried. I've managed all these years but I just wonder what other people use.
