I imagine that the krylon primer is lacquer, and if done in heavy coats, it will eat up the plastic! From the fingernail polish I have seen, it doesn't really need to be thinned, I mean, its pretty thin to begin with, are you sure you can't just shoot it right from the bottle? You might also try Tamiya's primer, its good stuff!
