V8 Interceptor finished.....

First off, let me say to all who apply.....HAPPY FATHERS DAY

I finished this Aoshima 1/24 Interceptor kit this morning. I had done the Road Warrior version a while back and wanted to follow up with the Mad Max version. I had to scratchbuild the trunk lid, spoiler, back glass and frontend bonnet. This was also my first attempt at high gloss car finish. Needless to say, I had to strip it once and retry. I had fun with this one and was a nice break from my usual (WWII a/c). Comments and crit welcomed......

Looks pretty sweet, especially for a first time gloss finish! So what kind of paint/process did you use? I've never built this kit, which is kinda funny since those movies had a lot to do with me getting back into modelling as an adult.

The finish is just good ole gloss enamel with a hi gloss enamel clear coat. The trim was a mixed satin black.

A couple of months, I guess. The scratchbuilt parts were suprisingly easy to build but took time. Had to spend time measuring precise lengths to get it right. Plus, the finish took a while allowing time to dry between coats. Other than that, the kit is great and simple.

Or anyone who has this kit in their possession ?

I'm doing a customer commission build of this car in bigger 1/18th scale I've pulled down the Biantie Ford XB Coupe modified all the body and nose of the model and need someone who has the Instructions for the Aoshima kit or any other kit of this car to possibly scan and email them to me so I have an Idea of what the under belly and exhaust system of this car looks like?

Even a few good quality photos of the underside of your finished models would be more than helpfull?

Head to madmaxcars.com they import the real deal into the U.S. for us. They can get you all kinds of pics, and I believe they have all kinds of useful ones on their website. You can write to them they are VERY accomidating. I know because I've been in contact looking for reference before and I'm thinking about building a 1:1 version of this car in the future.
